Buffalo will likely be making their selections in the evening due to a vacation.

I don't get it, am I doing something wrong?

Without discussing other posters, here's my perspective on deal-making:  I think it's important to start with a semi-realistic offer.  It doesn't have to be your best offer, but it needs to be within the realm of reality.  When somebody gets low-balled, a lot of times they're going to 1) angry, 2) insulted, and/or 3) dismissive.

I've seen a lot of settlements (in real life) that either collapsed or were on the brink of collapse because a client felt insulted by somebody's negotiating style.
But then again what's perceived as semi fair value for one person might seem ludicrous to another, especially in a game based solely on subjectivity.

Talking just draft picks, some people felt that a first rounder was equal to two second rounders. Other went by the old    round=(round -1)+(round-2). But I think that fluctuates depending on where in the round the pick is and how far down the draft you are. I just don't see that that a 13th and a 14th equal a 12th. or a 9th and a 10th equal an eighth. Call me crazy but an eight round talent isn't so good that he outweighs in value the value you get in a 9th and 10th rounder. I'm more of a mind that an 8th rounder is probably equal to a 9th and an 11 or 12th. I am in the severe minority here but I think I am right if you were to transfer this to real life is they did such things.

Look at that formula that the NFL uses for gauging value of draft picks. There's no way in the NFL draft you will get a 3rd and 4th rounder for a 2nd rounder or a sixth and seventh for a fifth. Laws of diminishing returns and such.

Anyway, my rant is over.

I disagree with this logic completely.  Once you get to the late rounds picks become a great deal more valuable.  11th and 12th round talent as we have seen really isnt that great.  There arent really any rotation guys that were picked in the 11th and 12 rounds.  There were still a decent amount in the 9th.  I think that means there is a great deal more value in that 9th round pick.

However Nick I think your right after you get out of like the 1-15 picks in the first round.  I think there is similar talent from their till the begining/middle of the third.

However the real way to get trades done is have repores with the other GM's.  I mean there are certain GMs that I have succesful trade talks with, and there are others where I dont even bother.  And thats because I probably bugged them or made them mad at some point during this whole draft.  But again I think thats somewhat realistic.  Once real GM's have a positive relationship with eachother they are more likely to deal again.  Like look at denver and detroit.  Detroit laughs in our face, but even after getting swindled on the AI for Billups deal, they make another trade this offseason.

On a related note, Aaron Brooks is on the block, looking for either a shooter or serviceable big man

Interesting.  Brooks is probably the best player, but Watson is a better fit, and getting Andy is *huge*.

Wasn't Varejao drafted quite a bit higher than Brooks?  That was probably one of the moves that didn't work out in hindsight.

We love having Watson as a pure pointguard running the second unit.  And we believe having Varejao backing up Kg will be a great asset since he can defend both the 4 and the 5 very well

mabey, but las vegas rational here was that we are very weak when it comes to scoring, but strong on defense. Andy is a loss, sure, but this is what he was drafted for, to gain us a young piece for the future we felt we needed when the time came.

We see Brooks as a Jason Terry type player for us for years to come, a guard who can come in and terrorize 2nd units with one or two other starters to play off of, holding and extending our leads while our starting defense rests, ready to come back in and continue to choke out high scoring teams.

We also still have pieces to acquire a serviceable backup big, which we will be looking to do in the days to come.

oh right...i need a new 16th man thanks to the 2-1...

I guess we take mark blount, since his awful contract doesn't count in this game, and he can at least rebound a bit if by some fluke we don't get a serviceable 4th big man through trades later and i dont get the pleasure of cutting him  ;D.
