Toronto sends: Aaron Brooks
Las Vegas sends: Earl Watson, Anderson Varejao
Interesting. Brooks is probably the best player, but Watson is a better fit, and getting Andy is *huge*.
Wasn't Varejao drafted quite a bit higher than Brooks? That was probably one of the moves that didn't work out in hindsight.
mabey, but las vegas rational here was that we are very weak when it comes to scoring, but strong on defense. Andy is a loss, sure, but this is what he was drafted for, to gain us a young piece for the future we felt we needed when the time came.
We see Brooks as a Jason Terry type player for us for years to come, a guard who can come in and terrorize 2nd units with one or two other starters to play off of, holding and extending our leads while our starting defense rests, ready to come back in and continue to choke out high scoring teams.
We also still have pieces to acquire a serviceable backup big, which we will be looking to do in the days to come.
