News is that Gilbert is in the best shape since he joined the Wizards. Also in the games he did play last year he was effective netting double digit points and assists in both games. Granted it is a very small sample, but there is no reason he cant be just as effective if not more effective when he comes back after a summer more of Rehab with the Trainer that returned DWade to elite NBA status.
All 2 games huh?!?!
Did you read what you typed before hitting the enter button?
Ya i did, did you read, "Granted it is a very small sample," before posting a snyde remark?
It's not snide and wasn't meant that way. It's just when you want to prove a point about his ability to come back and point to a two game stretch, that's comical. You're better off with the Grant Hill return argument or the reports from the trainers argument or that he is only 27 years old argument and had top 5 game before getting hurt at 25 years old argument.
Gilbert could be a heck of a pick. But don't you think that pointing to a two game stretch at the end of 2009 season as providing proof that he warrants a mid second round pick rather amusing.
Put it to you this way, if someone was trying to convince you of Marbury's ability to perform last year and pointed to a 2 games stretch he played in pre-season, you wouldn't find that comical?
Of course it was meant to be a snyde comment and thats fine, you dont have to back off just because I called you on it, stick with your guns. And Preseason is different than regular season and your logic on the Marbury comparison is comical. You say, "Arenas could be a heck of a pick," which is because you concerns are injury. Whereas Marbury just has not been performing well in perfect health. There is no reason to believe he will improve.
I have "Real News," which the rules stat should be provided for a player to be given consideration that Arenas is in the best shape he has been in 5 years. And if he played well in two games last year, what logic would you use to say, since your main concern is health, that after another 5 months of rehab with a respected trainer he wont be even better.
It wasn't meant to be snide. I know what I meant. I thought it very funny.
Let me put it to you this way. Last year Big Baby started the year shooting horrendously but by February had worked things out and was showing that he was a much better shooter than the first two months of the season showed. I claimed he was a good outside shooter and that 2 months of increased shooting percentages proved my point. That was a stretch of over 30 games.
Many people who countered what I had to say laughed at me. They said 30+ games was too small a sample to determine if someone was a good shooter, you needed a real sample size. I thought 30 games was a great sample size. As it turns out Baby shot great the rest of the year and if he continues iot this year, I guess I'll have been proven correct.
But they had a bit of a point. Anyone can get hot for a while and maybe 30 games wasn't enough. But now we have a lot more to look at and those same people I was debating with have fallen back off their stances.
But you mentioned a 2 GAME STRETCH where he averaged a double double. Arenas has never averaged over 6 assists per game in his life. That pretty much proves that a 2 game stretch should never be considered when talking about a players game. Evevn Gerald Green had back to back game where he averaged over 20 points and 5 rebounds per game. Does that prove he is an All-Star.
Gilbert, like say any rookie, has potential to be great this year. But if I had to bet whether last year a reportedly fully healthy Marbury could come back and produce after a year plus away from the game or this year a reportedly fully healthy Arenas could come back and produce after 2 1/2 year away from the game with injuries and not personal problems, my money would be on Marbury all day.
