They were discussing this on WEEI when I was out on my lunch break.  The hosts were saying with the addition or Artest, the lakers are better than the Celts.  I personally think that losing Ariza and Odom is a far bigger loss than just Artest can pick up.  Odom especially because of his size and versatility. 

What do you all think?

As of right now?  That's tough.  Probably us, but it's impossible to say without knowing the status of BBD, Odom, etc.  Both teams have more work to do.

As of right now, the Lakers. But we're in a position to continue adding pieces, and it doesn't seem likely that they'll add much more substance, so we can overtake them.

Wow, it's about as close as can be as far as I'm concerned. Really it could come down to who makes shots in the 4th qtr. With a Hill and few more bench mobbers, we could take them. I think their bench is not near as good as many think. In many ways, they are mirror images of each other. I still think the C's are more consistent, and have plenty of talent on their own..

Right now they haven't signed Odom so I say it's us. Once they sign Odom it will be them, but once we sign Hill it will be us. If we lose Baby it could be them, if we sign someone good to replace him then it's us. Basically what I'm getting at is it's very very close.

Celtics are better. But I would never admit that the Lakers were better than the Celtics anyway. NEVER EVER. Even if you pulled my fingernails out one at a time and set my head on fire I would'nt admit that.

I would never ever admit it to anyone who wasn't a Celtics fan. It's like how people are allowed to make fun of what they are: I'm Irish and I like to drink, but if someone else does it there is a problem.

I think the C's are better right now. Ariza was the Lakers best defender not named Kobe, and often played in crunchtime for them. He was their version of posey last year. And Odom was their starting 4. I think they will resign him which will bring the teams back even, but right now its the C's.

I am with you on this. TP. Even if someone were to ask me if the Celts from 3 years ago were better than this past years Lakers, I would be like, "Yeah, Boston is better. You just watch. That Gerald Green kid is going to be special."

The Lakers are better RIGHT NOW.  But, even assuming they resign Odom, if we hold onto BBD, sign Hill, and get a decent backup PG, I think we will be better than the Lakers.
