the lakers seem to be getting the breaks these days ..........
the celtics don't give james posey the extra contract year he wants and he leaves. the lakers actually withdraw their offer to lamar odom in the middle of the off-season and he ends up staying in los angeles for even less than he was originally offered and certainly less than miami was going to pay him.
sorta reminds me of the 80's when the lakers make a move to get a high draft pick and get james worthy, without whom they do not win in '85, '87 & '88. the celtics make the same move and get an even better player and he dies from a drug overdose.
is this curse still with us ??
The curse? If there was one it ended 6/17/2008 with a sLAUGHTER of the Lakers.
Regarding all the arguments about who is better, the only difference will be health. Whichever team has the healthiest team in June will win it all, and it might not be Boston OR LA. If Kobe goes down the way KG or Ginobili did last year then they might not even make it out of the first round (because it's the West). And Cleveland will be tough to get by healthy or not. I like our chances against Orlando though, especially with Hedo gone.
As much as I hate the Lakers, I think Gasol has closed the gap against KG. I still think KG is better, but I don't think it is by much. While KG is a better defender and Gasol is a better post scorer, KG's leadership, intensity and communication separate him from Gasol.
