Anyone listen to Bucher on the front of ESPN?  He mentions that the Celtics are "still trying to do other things" and made it sound like they wanted to wrap this up and lock it down so they could see how to proceed.

Is he just referring to other free agent signings?... or does Danny have something bigger in mind...  maybe something that will free up more playing time for Sheed?

Please do not suggest more possibilities. The last few weeks have been stressful enough!

I heard what I heard.  He said that the Celtics are trying to do some other things.   That's really open for interpretation.  But it sounded like they were anxious to get this locked down so they could "proceed" with their other plans.

I am not saying you did'nt hear that. What he was most likely talking about was signing Grant Hill.

I don't know how signing Rasheed changes whether or not Grant comes, though.  Maybe it's referring to the fact that had they NOT signed Sheed they would have had more money to offer (split the MLE) with other players.

that to me sounds like the Hill signing because you really can't commit the LLE to Hill until you know what you are going to be doing with the MLE.

for instance, if Sheed went elsewhere, then maybe you are looking to use the MLE on Marion....and that would mean you need to use the LLE on a big...

could be something else, but this would be my first guess as to what "other things" means.

I would guess that it impacts the amount and composition of Grants deal, but either way ... my bet is that we would offer Giddens for a future 2nd round pick or cash considerations to dump Allen's or Scalabrine's contract

I keep thinking the following:

Danny has said repeatedly that it was a mistake back in the late 80's to keep the Celtics together.  To me this means one of two things:
A) He's going for it this year and then is going to break it apart
B) One of the key pieces still could be moved.

Tonight's news does nothing to clarify this.
sometimes you have to bite your lip, exhale and move on.  So, I have.

I don't think we can afford to trade Scals if we don't re-sign Baby.

Well we also have to remember that KG PAUL AND RAY were all at Sheeds house when the C's made the visit so I really doubt that one of them will go anyware this season.

Also Ray really came in handy when it comes to Sheeds wife cuz she is really involved with the community so I really doubt he will be moved this season.

I do think this will be the last year for Ray. That means $20 million off the books. We will still have cap issues. Bold move by DA and he is going for it!

Yes, exactly. I'm also among those that believe Wallace's arrival ensures Ray's return (to at least finish out his current deal...).

I suppose Perkins could continue to come up in trade rumors, but even that strikes me as unlikely, what with Powe out and effectively gone and Davis less and less likely to resign.
