Signing Sheed means two things: 1) the MLE is used up, and 2) it demonstrates the Celtics are right up there as far as contending for the Eastern conference crown. So while Danny has fewer resources to work with in bringing in additional free agents, our desirability to those looking for a shot at a ring has increased.

Hopefully, Grant Hill will sign for the LLE. However, we'll still need a competent backup PG, and if Baby signs with SA, we'll definitely need to find another big man for the frontcourt rotation. I love Scal, but he's a hard foul away from retirement.

Danny's job has only just begun. Sheed's the big piece, but we need lots of follow-up moves to round out that roster.

Well, it looks like Grant Hill will finally be on a team that wins a playoff series...if Baby leaves, I'm hoping Danny has a contingency plan--say,Joe Smith or McDyess for the Vet Min??

Since when has a player gone from averaging a double-double to signing for the vet min?  Dice has to be able to command 5-6 mil per.

They'd better not trade Rondo or I'm jumping ship.

If you jump ship because of 1 individual player, leave now because you are not a true Celtic. That means you root for the name on the back of the Jersey & not the name on the front which matters the most.

Always a move to be made.. We pretty much need an A+ offseason. Rasheed isn't a bad step, considering how much we needed size. We still have too much dead weight on the bench, though. Some of those guys are expiring, however (everything I say is important) it remains to be seen if teams are interested in taking those contracts. If they do, it will probably be at the deadline, and I hate deadline deals. Having to introduce someone to a new offense can't be easy, and some guys just don't fit in that season, if it all.

But... If we can get Noc from Sacramento or Barbosa from Phoenix.. is there any way (Except for injuries) that we don't win at least one, maybe TWO more championships with The Trio?

Dear KG ended Bias:

I have  been a Celtic  fan since  1959.  I lived thru John Y Brown and Rick  Pitino....
if one  has Bill Russell and you trade him in his prime or when it is clear what you've  got, then one must presume basketball lobotomy.
Please tell me, with the present make up of the team for whom you would  trade Rondo.

Anyone listen to Bucher on the front of ESPN?  He mentions that the Celtics are "still trying to do other things" and made it sound like they wanted to wrap this up and lock it down so they could see how to proceed.

Is he just referring to other free agent signings?... or does Danny have something bigger in mind...  maybe something that will free up more playing time for Sheed?

If there are any trades in the offing, my guess is they will be minor ones, dealing with guys like Scal, Tony, Giddens, and maybe Baby.

I think now that the C's got their 6th man (and maybe even their 7th man in Hill), they will move on to trying to add some more depth, and also pruning the rest of the roster.  But this move really allows the C's to concentrate more on 8th-12th men, which is a nice luxury this early in the offseason.  And Danny may shift the deck-chairs with a few of those roster spots, hoping he can either get guys who fit the system better, or who are a slight upgrade in talent, that teams might give up for the expiring contracts.

I don't know how signing Rasheed changes whether or not Grant comes, though.  Maybe it's referring to the fact that had they NOT signed Sheed they would have had more money to offer (split the MLE) with other players.

Grant Hill much more likely to come here if Rasheed is locked in.  Just like KG agreed to go to Boston only after we got Ray.

I agree, though I'll point out that having Scal and Tony on expiring contracts is a nice option to have in your back pocket if anyone comes around with something we need

I agree T Allen and Scal might not be traded if at all until the trade deadline when their contracts are more valuable unless if Danny finds a really good deal right now.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of Pruitt, Giddens, or Walker is traded for a future pick after a good showing in the summer league to open up another roster spot.
