House of course would still have a fair amount of handling responsibilities, but I think he's capable.

The fact that its his 3rd year in the system gives me even more confident of this.

Is it just me, but doesnt the number 37 associated with Grant Hill just scare the hell out of you.

He should wear number 37.

another "over the hill" player that turned out good.

Harrison was not "over the hill" when the Pats acquired him. Rodney was only 30 when he joined the Pats in the Spring of 2003.  He was a salary cap casualty for the San Diego Chargers.  Apples and oranges man.

What!?  Is Tanguay now changing his decree!?  Oh man, I can't take much more of this...well, it still seems to me that if Hill gets signed we are still lacking on a sufficient back-up for Paul.  This was a problem that I had with the dynamic last season and I will have a similar problem with it this season.

Sure Hill can play the 2 or 3, but that means we are again depending on Walker/Tony to step up for us, and I just don't see that as a legitimate way to go about things.

Anyway, I can't take anymore of this for tonight...it's 4:40 in the morning where I am.

Goodnight celticsblog.

The pitch remains the same.... Grant Hill, what is your legacy going to be as you end your career? The ship is sinking in Phoenix. Both Phoenix and NY will return to the lottery.

Don't you want to get back to the playoffs, a taste of the good life, of champagne bubbles......

As in the number of seasons he's been in the league? :P

It's less scary when you think of it as 33 or 34.  He's played about as many games as most guys of his caliber who are 33 or 34.
What about the wear and tear of injuries and surgery?

Valid point, but he's played a lot of games the last two seasons.  Now, that could mean he's due for an injury.  It could mean Phoenix just has a great medical staff and he didn't play  a lot of defense down there.  Or it could mean he's in good shape now and will hopefully not suffer any major injuries if he only plays around 20 mpg.  It's impossible to really know for sure.

well that would be that I would now think. We put on the full press tonight and he backed away, so I think we are done with him and will move on with other options.

There were 3 teams interested in him.  He chose the Pats over the Broncos and Raiders.  He was in demand man.  He chose the Pats because of the Genius.

But we digress....

With Hill and Parker off the table, we're not left with a whole lot of options.

Basically we'd have to settle for Barnes, Bogans, or maybe Dahntay Jones...or else make a trade.  I think our best option would be to try to make some sort of trade, maybe with New Orleans.

If we made a trade involving Tony Allen and Scal with New Orleans for a couple of their defensive wing reserves (say Wright and Peterson), it might be worth it.  Not as good as getting Hill, but still decent.

Just because Hill is supposedy "considering his options," it doesn't mean he's less likely to sign here than before.  A day or so ago, the word was that he was most likely going to sign in New York (what every source besides Tanguay was saying anyway).  Now, however, a league source says Hill is "considering his options" instead of leaning towards NY.

Assuming that Grant is happy with the more than a hundred million dollars he's already made, and he wants a chance at winning it all in the last year or two of his career, I think we can hold out hope that he signs with us.

I'd love that, but I'm just not convinced we have the right guys to trade for Battier.

Battier is a cornerstone guy for Houston.  He's not going anywhere.

Rodney Harrison himself has said that the league thought he was done. that he couldn't play anymore. Thats why he had that moment with Bill after the super bowl.
