I moved up in the 1st round and got another 6th round pick which could turn into a starter. I don't really mind giving up my 3rd round because it is a late third rounder and my 4th round pick is just a couple picks behind.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

Ya guys, alot of people have this thing 17 players deep in the 1st round before a significant dropoff.  He got into that range and got a good 6th round pick.  A first and third is alot, but if he picks well he could definitly get the better end of the deal.

"17 players deep." I wonder why you chose that cut off?  ;) I'm not sure I see it. Take a look at last year's draft, did it prove worth paying a huge premium for the chance to draft Carmelo Anthony vs Kevin Durant or Brandon Roy? Or even our own Paul Pierce instead of Joe Johnson or Caron Butler?

I will agree the trading into the Top 20 is safer.

besides Pierce, I think there is a huge drop off between durant and Joe Johnson, and caron.  Especially when you take age into account, which is what we do in a franchise draft.

For a real star I also have a first round cutoff at 12 for creme de la creme(sp?) and 18 for my second cutoff.  Just a matter of what a person wants to do with there team and how they personally value each player.  Not everyone will place value the same.

So maybe you're agreeing with me? Carmelo and Pierce went 17th and 19th respectively. Durant went 24th, Joe Johnson 27th, Brandon Roy went 30th.

and for all....

I got birdman with something like 12 lat year
gortat was 15th
theres a lot of value late in this game
as IP says .... really

I was actually just looking at the draft thread and I saw that Gortat went in the 15th round...and Sebastian Telfair went in round 5. There are buried treasure there late in the draft. Few and far, but they're there.

Gortat went in the 15th round!?!?!

What genius GM picked him that late? Probably the same one who got Granger with the 2nd to last pick in the 2nd round  :o 8)

That was great drafting.

Both great picks, IP. Credit where credit is due. I might hand out recognition for Best and Worst picks in each round... Would be mostly subjective and one-sided, but might be fun.

We should do another vote on the previous summers teams after the year.  I know my team would of been way worse after the year than going into it  :'(

It wasn't the genius that took Nene in the 6th, I know that.

That was last year, this year durant is going to go top 6, roy and melo top 17.  Pierce may be in top 17.  Johnson and butler will not be

I think it would be a good way to waste a day or two this week and not think about what your 9th round pick is worth.
