Looking forward to the RULES. Right now I'm kind of lost. What dates and times do I need to keep free? Anyone interested in a very protected 9th round draft pick?
Wait for Don's OFFICIAL / FULL rules -- he said he's finishing up --- but to give you a better idea how it worked last year:-- It's a 15 round snake draft 1->30 for round 1, 30->1 for round 2.... Don's gonna randomly assign draft order and said he'd publish this WEDNESDAY around noon (all times are EST).
-- From the OP, the draft starts July 20 with 1 round everyday. The week of July 27-31 will have rounds 6-15 with 2 rounds each day. Don will likely post the times for each pick, and you have like 10 mins to make your pick, so if you're at work you can log in at the exact time of your pick. for example:
#1 pick - 12:00 pm
#2 pick - 12:10 pm
#3 pick - 12:20 pm
the exact times/rules will be determined by Don, but last year, if someone picked early you just have more time --- your pick isn't "late" until the next pick is scheduled. Don may have some tweaks based on last year, but it went pretty smoothly overall.
-- There was 1 thread for the draft, 1 thread for chitter-chatter, 1 for trade offers and one for the rosters (and a few other random but useful threads). Donoghus may change it slightly but diff. posters chipped in and helped.
PUTTING THINGS IN THE RIGHT THREADS HELPS EVERYONE!
--- You can trade players/picks throughout the draft. You can use PM, AIM, snail-mail, phone calls, ESP, whatever to work out trades. Once the 2 GMs agree on a trade they both had to PM Wdleehi (last years Commish). Again Don may do it a little differently, but both GMs have to send in that they agreed to a trade.
Last year i traded my 1st round pick a few days before the draft started to move down and get a couple later round picks, then moved it again literally while i was on the clock the first day for an already drafted player!
-- Some GMs are SUPER active making trades, some just make their picks. Some offer fair deals, some i think were smoking something wacky with what they proposed.
-- You draft to build a team... you can build for the future, can build to win now, etc.
-- at the end we hold press confrences where you go over your team, say why you drafted who you did, what your strengths and weaknesses are, etc. it's all up for debate of course.
-- most importantly, it's all for fun!!!!! Everyone should act that way!!!Did i miss anything? Anyone have corrections?
