i still think danny's comments were to light a fire under rondo this offseason to improve his game. i think ainge would be more than happy to give rondo a max deal if he deserves it. which is to say, if rondo play hard all the time and develops a decent jumper. i mean, look, i think in order to get a confident and stubborn guy to work his tail off to improve his game, you basically do exactly what has happened to rondo thus far. my hope is that he does just that and earns himself a max deal from us next year.

Thank god Danny hasn't been able to unload Rondo because of those crazy contract demands I keep reading about...

unfortunately, what Rondo actually wants in contract extension is kind of irrelevant at this point. this "Rondo wants an unreasonable contract" notion has taken on a life of its own.

and putting out the fires is a lot tougher than starting them.

anyway, 10-11 mil per is an extremely reasonable contract for him. I say lock him up if that's what he's looking for...

Taken on a life of its own where? On websites like this?

Of course he will.  As a restricted free agent in next year's pool, he won't get more than that on the open market.  Danny will match anything 5 years, 50 million and below.

It is a decent deal if it kicks in after next year (when he is due to earn ~$3 million).

That would put him in the Tony Parker / Josh Smith / Josh Howard / Nene / Monta Ellis / Kevin Martin range.

That seems about right.
"All I have to know is, he's my coach, and I follow his lead. He didn't have to say anything in here this week. We all knew what we had to do. He's a big part of our family, and we're like his extended family. And we did what good families do when one of their own is affected." - Teddy Bruschi

Why do i get the feeling after what happened this week, he'll want to leave. Ainge is driving Rondo's price down, and you don't mess with another man's money.

you think this is the only place where the reasons behind Rondo being shopped is being discussed?

Ainge isn't driving Rondo's price down. How much money do you think Danny saying Rondo was late 2 times last year will cost him?

  No, there's also realgm.

Do you think other GMs check out celticsblog to find out whether Rondo's being shopped because of his salary demands, or do you think they'd talk to his agent?

It seems like Rondo's agent is willing to mess with Grousbeck's money

50mill for 5 years is fine by me but a million a year should be contingent on hours spent working on his jumper

right, because agents are always straightforward about money when it comes to their players.

you might want to have a conversation with Theo and John Henry about the Teixeira dealings...

  Allen Iverson begs to differ.
