Not sure if anyone noticed, but in the same article Vecsey floats the rumor that the Rockets and Suns are talking about a swap...T-Mac, Aaron Brooks, and Carl Landry for Amar'e and Barbosa.  What do you guys think? How does that package compare to Rondo and Ray?

I still don't like it.  T-Mac hasn't held up in years, so I'd have no interest in trading with the Rockets.  As for the Suns, if Amare is really so good, and he played with 2-time MVP Steve Nash, Shaq, Hill, J-Rich and Barbosa, why didn't the Suns even make the playoffs last year?

I mean it was one thing when Ray and PP were playing on crappy Seattle and Boston teams respectively, but that certainly wasn't the case with Amare last year.  I just don't totally trust that he's a winner.

Also, I think the proposed deal with the Rockets and Suns is inherently less risky for both teams.  The Suns are in rebuilding mode with the trade of Shaq, so it really doesn't matter what they do.  And with the Rockets, they would be giving up a guy in McGrady that had no impact on their success last year to get Stoudemire.  With us, it would be different.  We'd be giving up two guys who had an enormous part in what we've done the past two year for a guy who couldn't get his talented team into the playoffs last year.

I don't like it.

I think that's a good swap for both teams. Phoenix gets a massive expiring in T-Mac and Brooks is a solid backup PG. Landry adds some needed toughness (though he's undersized) to the frontcourt since they don't have Shaq. If the rumors are true about Sarver's big investment hemorrhaging money, they probably want to save as much money as possible.

On Houston's side, they get another big to pair with Yao and Scola. Outside of Yao and Scola, Houston's bigs are pretty much all undersized. Adding Amare gives them more height and a former All-NBA player.

He is using a rumor in an attempt to inflate his players worth in the trade market.

Maybe C's fans just overrate Rondo and Ray Allen.  The pistons are as high on Stuckey as the C's are on Rondo.  Prince and Hamilton are both solid starters who are younger than Ray Allen, and neither one is expiring.  If the Pistons can land Boozer this summer, then they are right back in the mix for the next few years, why would they blow it up for an uncoachable young PG that wants a ton of money in a year and a guy that probably wouldn't re-sign.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

"Uncoachable" is a little harsh, it's not like Rondo hasn't gotten a lot better in his three years under Doc.

The deal as discussed doesn't make any sense to me unless WE think Stuckey's a point guard and Detroit thinks he's a 2.  If they're convinced Stuckey's a wing, the deal would give them a true 1-guard and a true 2-guard.  They'd be giving up all of their wing players, so it seems this would be contingent on Detroit signing Ben Gordon.

From Boston's perspective, *if* Stuckey can man the point, the Pierce/Rip/Prince/maybe House combo is about as good as has ever been on the wings - but that would leave a huge question mark at the point.  Probably one wing too many, especially since I'm not convinced Stuckey's going to be a real point guard.  Seems that we'd do this deal if we thought we could swap Prince or Rip for a true point guard (Nash?).

Ultimately, I don't think Rondo's going anywhere.  All these rumors, I think, are their efforts to slap some sense into him, to let him know that he's NOT as good as he needs to be, that he needs to step up every night.  But, I don't think they let a talent like Rondo go unless they absolutely have to.

It's not about overrating Rondo. If you like your core(Stuckey/Rip/Prince) enough that you're going to try and add a player or two and be a contender, how many players in the league would you trade all of them for? How many players are worth completely blowing up to get? LeBron? Howard maybe?

Joe Dumars made a mistake.   Ultimately, Rip Hamilton and Tayshawn Prince are overpaid.  He must like Stuckey.

come on half the posts dealing with Rondo on here put him in that league.  C's fans, especially on this board, seriously overrate Rondo.  He is a good PG, but he isn't the second coming like a lot on this board believe.

Stuckey is unbelievably overrated... and obviously Joe Dumars thinks he's the next Wade, because he dumped Billups with the thought of starting Stuckey.

Half the people here think Rondo's a top 2-3 player in the league? You've got to be kidding.

Really?  Who?

There is a difference between not liking proposed deals that make us worse and not being OK if they trade Rondo.

Does Dumars have a really short memory or what. The year they acquired Mr. Rasheed Wallace we became the third team in that trade so it could go through. What a jackass. ???
