Another day on Celticsblog, another absurd rumor that everyone somehow believes...

Yeah... we're gonna trade our ring toting 23 year old huge upside starting pure point guard, for a couple of lottery busts who have never sniffed the playoffs...  That would go over well with Paul and KG....

 ::)
They are not lottery busts, have you ever watched Gay play? Also can you really be a bust if you are under 23 or under 21 in Conley's case.
It doesn't happen because according to Marc Spears twitter the Celtics would also want the number 2 pick in the draft. If we can get that deal we should do it in a heartbeat.

How many wins did those two 'explosive' players rack up together in Memphis?

Horrible deal for us, it closes the Pierce/KG/Allen championship window by bringing in unproven guys and expecting big things from them.
How many wins did Rondo, Al, Perk and Pierce get before KG and Ray? You can't judge them by not being surrounded by talent.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Anyway the Knicks and Memphis are talking about trading Darko. Although Realgm doesn't have it reported as involving the 2nd pick I think these negotiations are the step before the Knicks putting a package together for the 2nd pick. If this is the case then it doesn't matter what I think about this trade, it isn't happening. If Memphis makes a move not involving us our only possible trade partners are the Clippers (for Ray) and the Warriors or Kings(for Rondo).

I'm thinking it gets expanded with the Knicks pick and the 28th pick they just bought for the 2nd pick.

Let's make a deal along these lines: Rondo, Scal, and cash for OJ Mayo and Conley Jr.

That still doesnt kill the Scal/Rondo for gay/Conley rumor.

Marc Spears said that the Celtics scoffed at the trade saying they would need the 2nd pick to do it (on his twitter page).

Take Conley out, give us the #2 instead, and I'd make the trade.

The C's would have no PG in that case.. unless no wait no please...

If this trade were to happen maybe Gay's presence here is more of a precursor to a trade of Paul Pierce and not one of Ray Allen. Think about it. Pierce goes to Houston for Tracey McGrady. The Celtics sign Jason Kidd and Joe Smith to one year deals.

Kidd/Conley/Pruitt
Ray/House/Tony
Gay/McGrady/Walker
KG/Smith/Leon
Perk/Baby

Now Kidd, Pruitt, Ray, Tony, House, McGrady, Walker and Smith all expire at the end of the year. That leaves Conley, Gay, KG, Leon, Perk and Baby. Let's say, guesstimating here that's $28 million. The C's could then have plenty of room for a max contract guy like D Wade and then some left over for an MLE sized contract guy. Then could extend on Gay and Perk and enter 2010-2011 with this core:

Conley
Wade
Gay
KG/Leon
Perk/Baby

No offense but this post just made my stomach upset.

Rondo is a year and a half older than Conley and put a lot better PER's the past two years.   He's evolved into a very good PG.   Defensively, he's considerably better.

If they would do Gay & the #2 for Rondo that would be a no brainer. Draft Rubio sign Andre MIller and win a couple titles

That's the only Rondo trade that makes sense. You have to get Rubio back. Andre Miller would be the perfect stop gap too.

Ya as good as gay is i don't think Conley can run this team.  If we get back the number two I wouldn't mind

Conley is kind of the exact opposite PG as Rondo: grounded, mature beyond his years, low-risk, no ego.
