Last time I checked contenders usually play a little bit of defense.

TP for this. Wiz are and forever will be a joke.

i think this takes us out of the upper draft.

hopefully anyway....

LA gets Griffin
Minny gets Rubio
OKC gets Harden
SAC probably trades (someone looking for Thabeet)
MEM gets Hill
MEM gets Evans
GS gets Curry

maybe NYK could trade up to get Curry....

Is it just me, or does it seem that no matter how many guards the Griz trade away, they always still have too many?

How is that trade possible? Doesn't Thomas have an ETO option, meaning he can't be traded until after July 1?

I'm calling BS on this one, especially considering the source (Yahoo! Sports).

Thomas can't be moved; Washington has to replace him with some other cap fodder to make this happen.

Here's what ESPN reported:

Quote
The trade hasn't been consummated yet because of a clerical point that Etan Thomas needs to handle, a source told Katz. Thomas has to come to the Wizards' offices Wednesday to sign an agreement that he won't opt out of his deal on July 1 and become a free agent. By agreeing to the trade, Thomas would receive $1.2 million. Thomas is expected to sign the note, but it is a procedural matter that must be done before a conference call with all parties can be held.

Wow, the timberwolves now have 4 first round draft picks. There is obviously another shoe to drop, but i think the c's would be able to buy one of those picks.

they definitely could use Hill. Evans, if he can play PG, might mean they look to move Conley.

I like the deal for Minny but I'm not so sure if I like it for the Wizards. I think they could have gotten something much better for the number 5 pick.

What if MEM just picks Rubio. That would be the real shakeup.

That would p--- off just about everybody. especially MINN. they would be stuck taking two players neither of whom they actually want or need.

I sort of feel bad for Al Jefferson -- Minny has been rebuilding and it looks like they will continue to rebuild... oh well.

I was just reading the ESPN report and Andy Katz is saying that Minny would not package the #5 and #6 to move up to get #2.

that doesn't make any sense to me. Who are they going to get #5 that is a better prospect than Foye and definitely wouldn't be there at #6?

I'm assuming they're going to hope that one of Rubio or Thabeet slips, and then maybe Evans or Flynn?

that seems like a huge gamble. I don't see either of those guys slipping.

No way Rubio gets past SAC.

If Rubio goes second as most think, SAC could trade out to someone wanting Curry (ie NKY), but that would be the only way Thabeet would get to #5 IMO.

best guess is that both those guys are gone by Minny's picks.

then they would have traded Foye to get Flynn...that doesn't make much sense to me.

minny gives up the only players of any value.

I dont see the point...They arent going to get a guy better than Foye.

Well, it's a gamble.  Will they get a guy (or guys) who are equal to or better than Foye with those picks?  Will they trade the picks for a guy or guys that are better?  Will they move up in the draft and get a guy better than Foye?  We'll see.

I think Kahn wants to show that he is a legit GM and so he's going to make some major moves and shake some things up and make some gambles and hope that they pay off.  If this gamble pays off, it makes him look like a good GM.  If it doesn't...he's in trouble, but not huge trouble because Foye is good but not fantastic.

I think Minny is going to take Evans or Harding, whichever is available, and DeRozan, in the hopes that one or both of them pan out.
