trade idea (BOS, MIN, WAS)

Okay, this idea is based on three things:

- WAS wanting Ray and wanting to move #5 pick.
- MIN wanting Rubio but not wanting to give up Love.
- this morning's rumor about MIN sending us (Foye, Miller, Gomes)

trade:

BOS gets Foye, Gomes, Miller.

WAS gets Ray #18.

MINN gets #5 pick, Thomas, Mike James, Songaila.


MINN does it to move up to get Rubio without trading Love. WAS get Ray to team up with Arenas, Jamison and Butler.

could give us the #18 to make it more attractive to BOS. Or leave it out all together if MIN wants to keep it.

You know, I was going to say something about those rumors being bogus (which I still believe), but this deal does make a lot of sense for all three teams.

In fact, I think the team getting the short end of the stick is the C's...but not by a ton (I think Miller and Foye could be very good for this team, and Gomes could be decent).

Yeah not bad. I still the think the Celtics best chance to regain the thrown would be to add some depth to the existing team. Maybe a minor trade (SCal + TA) too

yeah, depends a lot on the health of Miller. If he could get back to his MEM-type game, he could be a real player for us.

also, maybe we could get the #18 instead of WAS. It's not like they are really giving up much other than the #5 pick...which they apparently want to do and are getting the best shooter in the league in return.

I would love this deal, Miller would be great offensively, Im really not sure how he is on the defensive end...I assume not that great because he doesnt look to quick.  

Gomes is phenomenal, Ive been a fan of him ever since his days as a Friar.  I was sad to see him go in the KG deal.  Great guy for us off the bench.  

Dont know much about Foye

How does that trade help our team?  It gives us three mediocre players for an All Star.  That'd be great if the league gave us a special exception to play all 3 at once at the 2 guard position (giving us 7 on 5); however, since that's not happening, I don't see how that helps us.  

In essence we're trading our must clutch shooter and a future Hall of Famer so we can downgrade at the 2 spot, get yet another undersized PF who is too slow to effectively guard SFs, and a backup 2/3.  The only improvement to the team is the backup 2/3.  However, that could easily be solved with signing Grant Hill or Quinton Ross.  

Trading Ray Allen this year is a bad idea to begin with.  Trading him for 3 role players is downright horrific.

this also wouldn't kill us money-wise. Miller and Gomes are expiring. So, if we decide to go in another direction we could do so. and Foye is due only a qualifying offer and could be traded or cut if we don't want to spend the money to re-up him....

not saying they all wouldn't work out, but if that did happen, we wouldn't be stuck with contracts.

He is a good shooter and he is good at that role.

Dont know much about Foye

Honestly, I think Foye would be the most important part of this deal.  If Danny were interested in it, it would likely be to get Foye.

While Foye has had some injury issues early in his career, and hasn't quite lived up the expectations yet, he had a very good year last year, and is starting to really show the talent he showed before the draft.

Remember, Danny really wanted Foye when he was drafted, and according to some reports, only made the Lafrentz/Roy for Ratliff/Telfair trade, once he learned that Foye was not going to make it past the Wolves.  

If you put Foye in a situation, where he is not expected to be the primary ball handler and distributor, and let him be himself (an aggressive scorer, and tough defender), he could be a very nice player.

In fact, the more I think about it, probably the team that would turn this deal down would be Minnesota, who likely want Rubio, so they can team him up the Foye.

Miller is one injury-affected season away from being a 16 PPG, 7 RPG, 43% 3-pt land player.

and Foye is an emerging talent that averaged 16 PPG, 85% FT line last season and can penetrate off the dribble and dish and score.

both these guys are starting caliber players IMO.

That's ridiculous.  KG is a 12 time All Star, League MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, NBA Champion, and will be a first ballot Hall of Famer.  Mike Miller has never made an All Star team, probably never will, and certainly won't be going to the Hall of Fame.

Same with Ray Allen. He's a guy who has made 9 All Star teams and will surely be going to the Hall of Fame.  

Mike Miller might be a good role player, but he's a role player.
