i thought the clippers teams of the early 90's would win a title by the mid 1990's (harper, manning, charles smith, loy vaught, marc jackson, ken norman, olden polynice, danny young, and some guy named glenn rivers. oh yeah, this is also because i thought bo kimble was going to be awesome.

I'll list a few off the top of my head regarding the NBA teams in the 2000's:

1. Gerald Green would be a future all-star (though as someone said in this thread--- the jury is still out, perhaps-- I was excited he "slipped to us at 18" in that 2005 draft)

2. Kedrick Brown would be a good, exciting NBA player with his jumping skills.

3. That 9th pick or so, in the draft with Joe Johnson as the 10th pick or so, named Rodney something (forgot last name) would be a force to be reckoned with in the NBA.

Two that come to my head involve two seasons ago (our championship year).

First, I thought the Knicks were actually going to be pretty good.  With a starting 5 of Marbury, Crawford, Richardson, Randolph, and Curry, on paper that's a very good INDIVIDUAL starting 5.  Well obviously, as a team, they couldn't figure it out.

Second, I thought the Oklahoma City Thunder were going to be the surprise team of the year.  With Kevin Durant, Jeff Green, Nick Collison, and don't forget at the beginning of the year they had Delonte and Wally.

I made a bet with a Laker fan right after they acquired Shaq, that the C's would win another title before the Lakers.  My thinking: 1) Kobe wouldn't be the player that he ended up being, but he would be just good enough to combine with Shaq to put the Lakers in NBA purgatory - out of the lottery, but not good enough to compete for a title 2) The C's were gonna win the Tim Duncan sweepstakes.  Wrong on both accounts.

I screamed bloody murder when the Angels traded six time all-star Jim Fregosi for a little known pitcher named Nolan Ryan. I thought the Angels were making a huge mistake.

1.I think my first big one was thinking Bill Walton would suck as a pro. I has heard him interviewed and felt he was a fruitcake through word via the grapevine, and also felt that without Wooden around he'd be a joke. I couldn't even believe how dominating he was and the competitive spirit he had. Injuries are what brought him down, nothing more than that.

2.I thought Pitino would be a very good coach for us. woooowie.

3.I also thought Ryan Leaf would be better than Manning. Yep that is a prize winner. Leaf was VERY competitive and driven. What a total meltdown that one was.

4.In an ongoing saga, I felt a a tidal wave of corruption would envelop David Stern and destroy him and free the NBA to begin a new a greater age....

Yeah, same here.  I was legitimately excited when we signed him, and even though we missed on Duncan, I thought Antoine and Mercer would be a solid combination for years.
