Until i was about 12 i thought Camneely was one of the bruins best player's first name and not Cam Neely

I also thought:

    - Joe Forte was a steal when we drafted him
    - Tony Simmons would be a Pro Bowl receiver
    - Damon Buford was going to break out and be an All Star for the Sox
    - Donnie Sadler was going to be a star
    - Dee Brown would be an Superstar
Looking for a Sig designer....obviously i will be greatful with tps.

Looking for a Wire - Rondo theme....PM with ideas and I'll tp

TP for you for the thread idea.  Anyways...

I thought the 07 Red Sox would be a horrible team.  They were so bad that they won the World Series.

Around '05, I thought the Celtics had a shot at the 08 title with the team they had at the time.  We all know what happened to that team.

I thought hockey was murdered in Boston.

I thought Wally Szczerbiak would be the perfect sidekick to Paul Pierce.

I am still fine with Pedro in the game in the 8th inning of Game 7 in the '03 ALCS.  Remember the bullpen was atrocious that year.

the bullpen was atrocious that year, but straightened up following the scrapping of the "bullpen by committee" idea. brandon lyon was pretty good till he got hurt, then BYK was good during the regular season until blowing G1 of the alds. scott williamson emerged during the playoffs as well, though his availability for game 7 of the alcs was a topic of debate. have to disagree with you on this one, and i can honestly say my friends and i were amazed pedro even came out for the 8th.

but i digress, and the last thing i want to think about is the 2003 alcs. i would rather talk about how i thought acie earl was going to be a dominant defensive presence.     ::)

Charles Shackelford from NC State was going to be a dominate pf/c in the nba.

Greg Oden...man I thought he was the next GREAT big man.

Drafting Len Bias was going to make a celtics dynasty, Bias would be the next Dr J

My mom thought icing in hockey occurred when a player power stops and shoots the other dude in the face with ice. She's from Liverpool.

Here's the gist of a conversation that I had with my Dad in the mid to late ninties.

My Dad: Look at these guys. Cansceco, McGwire, Sosa. They're not natural. Look at how huge they are compared to players in the eighties. Look at Clemens now compared to when they show that 20 k game in '86. They're obviously all on something.

Me: It's just better nutrition and more working out in the offseason. They train harder now. Yep.

As Nick and others have said, I was convinced that Green would be a star and that Pedroia sucked. I actually thought that Oriene Greene would be a solid PG too.

I didn't like the Ray Allen trade (though I was unaware of the other shoe to drop) and wanted them to take Brandan Wright.

I thought Marcus Banks was going to be an amazing PG.

I thought Heath Shuler was going to be a great QB for the skins, and following that Gus Frerotte.

......I think you can make an arguement that Shuler was just as big of a bust as Ryan Leaf.

I wanted to kill Danny Ainge when he traded Antoine Walker, however though I have removed the Antoine Walker tinted glasses and now see that the move needed to be made, and am NOT in favor of bringing him back.

I always said that if I was starting a pro basketball team and I could pick any NBA player to build my team around, my pick would be Chris Paul, not Kobe or Lebron, because it all starts with a PG.  However, as much as I hate him, after New Orleans subpar year this year, and Lebrons great year, I'll concede that taking Lebron is probably the smart thing to do :)

I thought Sheldon Williams was going to be a beast in the NBA, and like someone else said, I also thought Joe Forte was going to be a good player (and in my defense, and the other guys defense, I still think Forte has the tools to be a great player, I just had no idea he was a complete PSYCHO)

I wanted the Celtics to bring in Lenny Cooke. HAH!

I was convinced Edgar Renteria would be a stud, Greg Oden would be the most dominant big man since Shaquille O'Neal came in with Orlando, and the worst of the worst, that Alex Cora should have been the Sox 2nd baseman in 2006, burying the Rookie of the Year Dustin Pedroia.

Ouch.
"Let me call him," Floyd said.

The man shook his head. "O.J. doesn't give out his cell," he said. "He'll call you."

I lost 20 bucks because I was convinced the Washington Redskins were from the state of Washington...

Man I can't believe this thread has already had a Jason Lawson and a Victor Page reference.  Lawrence Moten anybody?  Or maybe Conrad MacRae (RIP), Lavor Postell, or Felipe López? Or one of you Bostonians had to think Danya Abrams was going to be a stud, come on now don't deny it.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I thought Michael Smith was going to be almost as good as Larry -- just like Red told me.

I also thought Keith Lee was going to be an unstoppable force in the NBA like he was at Memphis (in the 80's for you young'uns out there)

I thought Danny Ferry was going to be the closest thing to Larry Bird since Larry himself.  missed that one by a mile.

I thought the C's screwed up bigtime by trading a terrific starting SF in his prime in Max for a broken down has-been Center like Walton.  Yeah, had that pegged too.
