I thought Gerald Green was gonna be a star once he got to the lague nd I was happy as hell when we drafted him I jumped off the couch fist pumping, he showed flashes of talent but played no defense nd had no work ethic

Gary Tanguay once said Gerald Green would be better than T-Mac.  I think everyone thought this kid would be a star.

I remember reading the Boston Globe on Sunday, and Bob Ryan saying that if Marcus Banks wasn't a Top 5 PG in the league within 5 years, then "something is very wrong with the Celtics organization."

A couple personal confessions:
Wanting Doc fired a few years back (doubt I was alone there)

Thought picking Dwight Howard over Emeka Okafor in the 2004 Draft was a huge mistake, too.  Oops

I thought the Jet had lost a step or two. Turns out I was wrong.

I was very convinced Albert Haynesworth was going to have a Randy Moss-esque effect on the Patriots defensive line. Then I remembered it's Albert Haynesworth.

I thought Stephon Marbury and Mikki Moore were going to be the last two pieces to the Celtics championship puzzle in 2009 (I mean the whole KG thing ruined the season, but those guys seriously sucked).

I thought Devin McCourty was going to step up to become one of the league's top corners this year (Maybe in a few)

I thought Bill Walker was going to be the wing of the future for the C's.

I wanted the Celtics to draft Mark Randall really bad. They chose Rick Fox instead. I thought Fox would suck. He turned out to be a good pro and Randall was out of the league fast. I thought Randall was the next Tom Chambers lol

Thought PF James Forrest of Ga Tech in the 80s would be a lottery pick....never drafted, never made the NBA

Met Acie Earl in the lobby at the 93 Final Four....told him I hoped the Celtics would pick him....little did I know he was another Reggie Jackson....Mr October

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Ricky Rubio being a bust.

I just couldn't understand the hype about a non-athletic point-guard who couldn't shoot playing in Spain. I figured the speed of the game and NBA athletes would get the better of him. I still haven't seen him play, but from what I've heard he seems to be legit.

However, considering it's not even 10 games into the season I could still be right.  :P

Ricky Rubio is proving a LOT of people wrong.  He can shoot, defend, drive, and he's already one of the best passers in the league.  If he played 35-40 minutes he'd put up Rondo numbers, only he can shoot 3's and free throws.

but one that sticks in my mind recently is that I really, really thought that Taylor Price would be a successful WR for the Patriots.

Sigh ...
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

i really thought mark blount would be a good starting center for many years.
You are fine upstanding CelticsBlog poster with much integrity.
 ;)

I defended Floyd Landis up to the end.  He was the Tour de France cyclist who was stripped of his title for doping.
Ditto.  Now he seems like a tool.   Gawd do I feel silly for arguing in his defense!

My mom thought icing in hockey occurred when a player power stops and shoots the other dude in the face with ice. She's from Liverpool.

haha. For some reason I used to think icing was when the puck got frozen to the ice...
I don't know 2 things about hockey, but I wouldn't have thought either of those.

Icing. I guess it's a foul from what you guys said, but I've got no idea what kinda foul it is. Are players not allowed to move 'coast to coast' or something?

*noob*

I'm going to look this up :p
