Quote
For now, the Bucks couldn't even dream of being in the Amare Stoudemire sweepstakes. They have neither the salary flexibility nor the players anyone would want in return. But they have to start moving in the direction that would put them in a position to become a player.

As general manager John Hammond said Thursday, "We have to have the financial means to become a consistently good team that will allow us to have the chance to become a great team." As presently constructed, they have no chance. The Bucks are paying $71 million, a top-15 payroll, for a team that won 34 games last year. That kind of crazy imbalance has to stop

"If we get ourselves out from under our financial situation, let's not put ourselves in that position again," Hammond said.

If it's true he is available, I would definitely want the Celtics to make a bid on him

Bos sends:    Ray Allen, Walker or future 1st

Bos receives: Richard Jefferson, Dan Gadzuric

Why for Boston:

Richard Jefferson is a very good young player. He can defend , go to the hoop and shoot the 3. He also has a lot of Playoff experience and has been to the NBA Finals 2 times already. He can definitely fit on this roster without disrupting the team chemistry.

Gazuric would have to be included for Salary reasons . It would give the Celtics a solid backup Center for Perk.

Boston Roster:

PG: Rondo       / Marbury( VET MIN)
SG: Jefferson   / House
SF: PP          / Grant Hill ( VET MIN)
PF: KG          / McDyess ( LLE)
 C: Perk        / Gadzuric

Why for Milwaukee

Milwaukee get a lot of cap relief which is what they are looking for . By doing this trade the bucks would be saving 22 MIL in 2010-11 and would have about 21 MIL under the Salary cap to try and make a run at Amare Stoudemire

I don't want Jefferson for free.

Care to elaborate?  Is it just because of his contract, or do you think he is actually a negative player?

not a bad trade idea... but i think i'd rather roll with ray allen, and hopefully resign him at a more reasonable value in 2010. Say 20/2.

I would imagine he is because he has the biggest salary on that team, but he is coming off a major injury. If he didnt get hurt last year I would be all for a Ray Allen for Redd trade.

What?!? No way. maybe it's my Ohio State grudge coming through but Allen, while older, i think is underrated in terms of the professionalism and KG/PP counterbalance he brings to this team.

Redd is a great scorer, but no thanks.

I'd love to add Jefferson, but a deal for Ray... eh..

Before the injury Redd was on Ray Allen's level as far as scoring and shooting and he is younger. He would be a perfect replacement for Ray, but again I wouldn't trade Ray for him now because of the injury.

Richard Jefferson is not a 2 guard. He plays the 3.  Does not make sense, roster-wise. He is 6'7". His game is more like Pierce, and would require Pierce to play the 2. I don't like this trade, although I respect Jefferson as a player.

I agree with rondohondo and footey's take on Redd and Jefferson respectively. Redd's injury history is concerning and Jefferson is a three in my mind. I don't think I would trade Ray for either one, but maybe Ray, Tony, Eddie, Scal, and Giddens for both ;)
“Being a Celtic is, every decision you make is about the team. Every cut you make is about the team. Every pass you make is about the team. You take yourself out of it. It’s not for everyone. If you don’t want to win, don’t want to play team basketball, and it’s more about you then you’re probably not a Celtic." Doc 2010

I just hate him. No need to elaborate further than that and not going to discuss the prons and cons basketball wise of adding him... I just hate him.

Richard Jefferson, Luke Ridnour (expiring), and the 10th pick FOR Ray Allen, JR Giddens, and Gabe Pruitt.

I'd personally rather have Allen, but the 10th pick might make it viable.  Don't want Gadzuric.  Guy can't play and is locked into a bad contract.

i cant stand jefferson either, hate is a strong word but he would be on the list of players leading up to hate, but i dislike him strongly, cant stand him and i would hate it if he were on the celtics. hes always seemed like the whining, crying type that complains about every little thing, he belongs on the fakers, and thats enough reason alone to not want him on the celtics.
