just taking a step back for a second. the trade rumors coming out of PHO these days make me even more worried about Kerr.

I mean, what is the plan down there? Is Big Al even right for their system or are they again gonna try to go back to a Spurs-style game?

If that's the case, Nash pretty much has to go....that franchise is in a real identity crisis.

For what it's worth I'd rather have Big Al, Barbosa and #6 than Big Al and Nash.  Only because it's 2 young dudes verses 1 old.  (Also heard Ced. Maxwell say that Barbosa could handle the point)

here's the deal:

BOS gets: Big Al, #14

PHO gets: Ray, Rondo and #6

MIN gets: Amare

Too bad we couldn't do the original Rondo/Ray for Amare/Barbosa trade and then swing Amare for Al and the #6

We'd end up with Big Al, #6, and Barbosa

The reason why we can't do it is b/c the Suns know they are fleecing Minny here and aren't going to give us the fruits.

wasn't the #14 also in that deal?

that would mean we'd end up with Big Al, Barbosa, #6 and #14.....

Wow, that would have been something.  It's a pipedream, I suppose, but it would have been one heck of a deal.  We could have traded the two picks for Rubio, or drafted Harden/Evans and the best available player at 14 (Hill?  Flynn?  Mullens?)

Ah, to dream.

Yeah, how come Ainge couldn't have kicked those tires?  :)

If Phoenix completes this deal I think they'll be very good next year. Bog Al has never really gotten to play with a good point guard, let alone a guy like Nash.

I think too much is made of certain players not fitting into the Phoenix offense.  First, a true post player is great when surrounded by shooters.  You see how well this worked for Orlando, and Big Al is more talented of a post player than Howard.  Additionally, teams need players to rebound to start the break, and Al has always been an excellent rebounder.

Was Kareem a superfast player in his late 30s for the Showtime Lakers?  I don't think so, but that didn't stop their team from being an excellent fast-breaking squad.  Not every player has to be a gazelle.

Well they're trying to unload Amare. I think the #6 and an expiring contract would of gotten the deal done. If Minny wants to throw in Al Jefferson, what are you gonna say no? Al Jefferson can play center on a running team. Shaq's a goner too. Phoenix will have saved money and rebuilt on the fly.

He also said Dirk was better than Larry.  Sometimes, Max says some odd things.

I agree with what Roy said. Then again I remember this same exact speech by ML Carr when he said he wanted to bring the C's back to the 60's style running game...and then drafted eric Montross.

Slam dunk deal for Phoenix. Minny should bring McHale back if this goes down.

I'm probably the biggest Rajon Rondo fan on the face of this planet... but I actually want this trade to go down.

Amare ton Minn for Jefferson and #6

Ray and Rondo to PHO for Jefferson, Barbosa, and #6

We would need sign a vet PG and a backup SG with the MLE

Then draft Jonny Flynn with the #6

Vet PG/Flynn
Barbosa/Vet SG
Pierce/Scal/Walker
KG/Big AL/Leon
Perk/Big AL/BBD

Yeah, not sure he meant full-time starting PG or anything.  He was interesting the other night with Felger and Tanguay, saying he wouldn't change the starting lineup if it was his decision, but that Danny has every right to try and extend the championship window if he thinks he gets the right deal.....then he said yes to Rondo and Ray for Amare and Barbosa, and he said no to Perk for #2 pick.....I agree with him on both counts, but I'd rather have Big Al than Amare....

Why would they trade Amare for just an expiring contract? They have plenty of trade options between Shaq and Amare. I don't see Phx doing panic moves and Pau Gasol type trades.

Amare has been the better player so far. I'm not sure how Al can play with Shaq on offense. Nash will never be able to do his normal running in and out of the lane. Shaq has to be traded after that move.

yeah, but PHO is different than ORL.  PHO (and GS for that matter) are always on the move. seemingly in transition the whole game.

For me, Big Al's best place is on a team that has a big focus on half-court sets. like the Cs, for example  ;D

I already said that Shaq would be moved and Al would play center. And the #6 pick makes it not just an expiring contract. The #6 pick is pretty valuable. Al Jefferson and the #6 pick is more than Minny got for KG.

I hope Big Al does not become the next Abdur-Rahim. We need to get this guy on a winner.

Great deal for Phoenix. Apparently it wasn't McHale in Minnesota who was screwing everything up. Seriously did they clone Chris Wallace for their new GM?

Can't let this pass without adding in "Big Baby's going to get $10M a year this summer".
