Now, let's trade Ray and Rondo to Phoenix for Big Al and Nash.  ;)

totally.

let's just do it as a three way. If PHO was looking at Ray and Rondo for Amare, let's just skip the middle step and do it in one fell swoop.

Hold on now. We are trading our starting PG & SG for a center when we have Perk and KG. Does Perk come off the bench. Nash is washed up and we have no solid replacement for RA.

It should also be noted that Big Al had his season cut short with a torn ACL...only way I could possibly understand the rationale of having to throw a top 10 pick into the deal

One of the rumors is that Phoenix wants to get Delonte back in any Shaq deal with Cleveland.  It would be interesting to see Big Al and Delonte reunited in the desert.

that would be enough to make me also a PHO fan. Big Al is still one of my favorite players in the league.

here's the deal:

BOS gets: Big Al, #14

PHO gets: Ray, Rondo and #6

MIN gets: Amare

As much as I love Rondo, I also want to maximize KG's stay in Boston, and a player the caliber of Al Jefferson would do just that.  I've always thought he would make an excellent 6th man, MacHale-like scorer off the bench, who can finish games when you need offense, or sit for Perk if you need stops.....

If KG plays too many minutes next year, he'll be at a greater risk of injury.  I'd hate to lose Rondo, but KG's minutes need to come down, esp. first half of next year...

I'd want more in the deal, however.  I'm sure it doesn't work, but Phoenix keeps the 14th pick and we get Barbosa with Big Al ;D

I'd do it because Big Al would bring a totally new element to our team.  I'd sign Anthony Parker as a free agent, and hope that Phoenix bought Ray out.

As for Nash, I'm frankly shocked by the number of people who call him "washed up".  He isn't much of a defender, but the guy averaged .503/.439/.933 last season, with 15.7 points and 9.7 assists per game.  If that's "washed up", I wish I had about 10 of those washed up guys on my roster.

Yeah, but the thing is, Amare has had microfracture surgery, and is now recovering from a major eye injury.  It's not like he's the picture of health.

I love how you love Anthony Parker- I guess he would be just fine as a 5th starter (a quiet contributor).

As for Nash, I would be so freakin' psyched if in one of these Rondo/Ray for Amare deals, we got back Nash. I understand we would definitely have to add more from our side to make the $$ match, but Nash is still REALLY good, and seems like he always basically will be, as he is such a smart player and always a step ahead...

and Perk really shouldn't be playing too many minute either.....32 MPG all the way around (Perk, KG and Big Al).

Haha.  Well, he's a competent role player, and the best option among the 2s on the market.  He's no Ray Allen, but he can shoot and play solid defense.

Yeah, Big Al's had some of his own issues with injury.  Maybe they all need each other!

here's the deal:

BOS gets: Big Al, #14

PHO gets: Ray, Rondo and #6

MIN gets: Amare

Too bad we couldn't do the original Rondo/Ray for Amare/Barbosa trade and then swing Amare for Al and the #6

We'd end up with Big Al, #6, and Barbosa

The reason why we can't do it is b/c the Suns know they are fleecing Minny here and aren't going to give us the fruits.

if you could get al and nash, then nash's shooting replaces ray's, and tony allen can start - where he's more effective!! :)

wasn't the #14 also in that deal?

that would mean we'd end up with Big Al, Barbosa, #6 and #14.....

Wow, that would have been something.  It's a pipedream, I suppose, but it would have been one heck of a deal.  We could have traded the two picks for Rubio, or drafted Harden/Evans and the best available player at 14 (Hill?  Flynn?  Mullens?)

Ah, to dream.
