If Danny did a trade with Memphis that involved Perk for # 2 and something else, I would be deeply concerned. And I don't think he would necessarily take Thabeet. He could still take Rubio or Harden. In the deal he'd have to get our backup players (more players involved on both sides) so that we could give the full MLE to a new starting center or slew of average bigs.
Giving up Perk to get Thabeet with another center as a stopgap seems weird to me, as in seriously not maximizing the window. It's just a guess, but if the Celts traded Perk and got #2 pick I'll bet it's because he's in love with another player, either Harden or Rubio, and lately people on this blog have convinced me it would be Harden.
Celts would then have to sign a bunch of bigs or gamble on 1 really good one (Pach, Gort)
Don't see how trading Perk can be a good thing at all, at least not for next year's run.
