He was just on Camcast Sports and said that the Celtics offered the Grizzlies something for the  # 2 Pick but it wasn't any of the Big 3 or Rondo.

So does that mean Rondo won't be dealt for a high pick? Can't get much higher than 2.

the offer must have been either BBD or Perk or both?

Which would have meant they had interest in Thabeet, which is what I said all along. I just thought the whole "we are going to trade Rondo to draft Rubio" talk was patently ridiculous because there was just zero chance of Ainge handing the reigns of this team over to a 19 year old kid who never played NBA basketball before. The C's had some major growing pains developing Rondo and they weren't going to go through them again, now.

Trading Perk for the #2 pick would be an equally big blow, in my opinion.  The difference between Perk and Thabeet is gargantuan.

what if we were getting something else back like Warrick in a S+T with BBD? or some other young piece?

Thabeet has the potential to be just as good if not even better than Perk on D, more of a shot blocker. Plus that alows the celtics to not have to sign perk to an extension

Of course we would have to sign another free agent Big man like ZAZA or Gortat

I agree.  They'd have to get back a 3 and then sign Pachulia.  I wouldn't trade Perk for #2 straight up.  No way.

Agreed.  Maybe Danny was just trying to lowball them in hopes of ripping them off like the Lakers did with Gasol.

The only two contracts they have beyond this coming year (not including those on rookie deals) are Marko Jaric and Greg Buckner.

Maybe Ainge offered to take one of those back for some expirings, cash, and a future pick, hoping that Wallace is still in a giving mood.

Hell yeah I would. I love Perk but his ceiling is no where near where Griffin's is.

What were we thinking?   The Celtics are trying to deal with Wallace.

Just tell him that the player the Celtics have stashed in Europe are even better then Gasol.

I wouldn't.

Perk fit so well with KG and creates the best defensive low post in the NBA.  That's what leads the Celtics to a title.

Actually, it's only about 4 inches.

Seriously, though, I completely agree.  It takes a long time to develop a PG, but it seems like it takes even longer to develop a big man.  Look at Oden.  Even Bynum was relatively ineffective in the playoffs (at least relative to expectations).
Celtics fan for life.
