Do you think Rondo would still put up the same numbers on the Clippers in LALA? Wouldn't Baron be better after he inherited a stronger cast of players that the Celtics posses? Davis's Contract is not terrible considering he is only 30. Ego issues? Did you mean to say that about Rondo?

baron davis is known to be kinda a "me first" player man...he has an iverson-esq practice philosophy.

No thanks.

I'm perfectly content with Rondo remaining our PG.

It is definitely an intersting trade.  It would be nice to have a guy like Blake to go up against Lebron for the next 10+ years , He is going to be one of the few players that can match Lebron in size and athleticism. Blake also would be a huge help to PP and KG to cut down their  minutes and save them for the Playoffs.

We would also be getting a Former All-Star PG who has shown he can play in the playoffs. You know he is hungry for a ring , and what better way to get that ring than beating the Los Angeles Lakers (his home town team) in the building he played in last year?

I think I might actually do this trade.

The Clippers would never do this.

I would. Griffin is going to be a franchise player.

I would do this trade in a heartbeat, and I'm a huge rondo fan and not much of a davis fan.

but i don't think the clippers would.

Agreed the combination of picking up Griffin and getting a suitable point guard back in the deal makes it an instant yes from the Celtics

Clippers would hang up the phone before you finished the offer if they weren't laughing too hard to do so.

Griffin IS going to be a franchise player.  But I also believe Rondo is going to be a franchise player for us.  Remember this was only his 3rd year and he's 23!  AND his rookie year he only really played the 2nd half.

right, but in the context of this trade, if im getting baron davis back plus blake for rondo and some expiring contracts, I have to do that deal.

It's all moot anyway, this isn't happening outside of NBA2k10 :D

Is Blake Griffen the second coming of Tim Duncan??????

I seen enough OU basketball to tell me, no he is not. Taking on the financial burden of Baron Davis' contract ain't worth the risk, especially giving up Rondo.

My answer is still a firm NO!

He's not Tim Duncan. But he's still a rare talent that comes along once in a great while.

Every projected number one is supposedly a great talent that only comes along one in a great while. Greg Oden, for example.

bold = fail

2002    Houston    Yao Ming    China
2001    Washington    Kwame Brown    High School
2000    New Jersey    Kenyon Martin    Cincinnati
1999    Chicago    Elton Brand    Duke
1998    LA Clippers    Michael Olowokandi    Pacific
1997    San Antonio    Tim Duncan    Wake Forest
1996    Philadelphia    Allen Iverson    Georgetown
1995    Golden State    Joe Smith    Maryland
1994    Milwaukee    Glenn Robinson    Purdue
1993    Orlando    Chris Webber    Michigan
1992    Orlando    Shaquille O'Neal    LSU
1991    Charlotte    Larry Johnson    UNLV
1990    New Jersey    Derrick Coleman    Syracuse
1989    Sacramento    Pervis Ellison    Louisville
1988    LA Clippers    Danny Manning    Kansas

and still some more of those players, while good, were certainly not "can't miss" players.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Not everyone was sold on Kandi man or Kwame though. Griffin has shown us a lot more than either of them.

I think Griffin's worst case is being around Kenyon Martin's level. Which is still a [dang] fine player for a long time.

How is Glenn Robinson a failed pick? A career 20 pt scorer is a failed pick? Danny Manning didn't fail because his talent wasn't worth the pick, he failed because he got injured.

The Clippers have "put it out there" that they are shopping the #1 pick and to teams that are willing to absorb Baron Davis and is large contract."

Clippers send:
Baron Davis
#1 pick

Celtics send:

Rajon Rondo
Scal
House
Allen
Semih Erden
Pruitt

This gives the Clippers the best young back-court in the game with Gordon and Rondo and the "out" of Davis's contract. If there was a team crazy enough to make a trade like this it's the Clippers.

The Celtics get their future franchise player and Paul Pierce's buddy Baron.

C - Perk/Blake/Baby
PF - KG/Blake/Baby
SF - PP/ Grant Hill
SG - Ray Allen/Marbury/Walker
PG - Davis/Marbury

How is Kenyon Martin a failure? That was a weak year and he is easily the best player from that draft. The only one that comes close is Redd.
