I would be interested in him if GS does something stupid like buying him out. He would work well with House with his ability to help run the offense.
He doesn't need to be bought out if he opts out. I don't think there is much chance of it happening, but I know I read somewhere that he was actually considering it.
I don't think his agent will let him. (if he has a good agent)
you mean if he has an honest agent. A "good" agent would get him to opt out so that Crawford has to sign a new deal and the agent can get a cut of that contract. The agent (if it's the same one) got a cut from Crawford's original contract, but gets nothing from accepting a player option. If he gets crawford to opt out he can double dip.
This doesn't make sense. Are you saying that an agent, who negotiated a contract with player options in it (although I don't think this is actually an option year, but an early termination clause), would not get paid for those options if they are picked up? I don't think that's true. Agents are paid a percentage of every contract they negotiate, and I believe that includes option years, bonuses, etc. (I am not sure how it works with fines and suspensions though, so if anyone knows about that, I would love to know if say, Boras still gets his full cut of Manny's deal, even though Manny will not be paid for 50 games).
Now, if he has a new Agent, you would be right (see Boras, Scott), but if its the same agent, he would actually be losing money (at least per year), unless they can find a sucker who would give him 9 million again.
