I think you hit the nail on the head. Great post.

Ray is a goner for a young, or in prime star swingman who can play defense.

I want Artest somehow.

I want lebron ( i know, i know, we're supposed to hate him) to come off the bench as our 6th man, but neither is happening  :D

Don't know about salaries, but

Ray Allen/Scal (expiring?)/pick

for

Steven Jackson/Crawford

is an idea...Jackson matches Rays scoring/shooting, beefs up our defense, and Crawford is a nice combo guard who gives us a GREAT scorer off the bench.

Artest is out of the realm of possibilty? It's really that laughable?

If we did the trade Nick proposed we'd have a starting 5 of Rondo, Jackson, Pierce, KG and Perkins with a bench of House, Magette, Randolph, BBD and Turiaf. Does that make us better overall?

Probably, but there's no way Nelson does that trade.

I think the real difficulty is finding a dance partner. If you take Ray Allen out and assume KG gets better you are looking at the following team:

Perk
KG / Scal
Pierce / Walker
Tony Allen / Giddens
Rondo / House / Pruitt

The biggest need would be a backup Center especially considering Perk and KG both have injury question marks. The next need depends on how much you trust Walker, Allen, Giddens, and Pruitt to contribute. If the answer is not at all, clearly a wing is needed. The talent at the big and wing might not be as good as Ray, but they both need to be excellent players to make up for losing Ray. And I think the C's can get decent big talent without trading, Davis and Powe have both shown to be good players, and Sheed is an option from Detroit.

For the wing spot Shane Battier would basically be the ideal candidate, but there is more or less 0% chance of getting him, so we'll have to see if a glue guy can be found or not. Anyways I don't see it happening in a trade, unless some bad team gives up a high ceiling talent and some draft picks with a high projected value.

Also Artest is not that good IMO.

wow, thanks for the completely unnecessary personal attack. reported.

If your going to act like i'm a moron for suggesting we can't get a superstar who Houston is going to kick and scream to hold onto (who I wouldn't even want, but that's a personal dislike of the player thing), care to post how you would be getting artest? since it's apparently not laughable that we will acquire a superstar player with no trade pieces/ cap room?

Ben Gordon... we can wait till he signs a contract with a team and hope that they'll have a decent SF or C, so that we can exchange Ray for Gordon and the other player!! :P

(OK, I admit it, that was a joke... :-\)

Go back to watching cartoons, I am trying to post my thoughts in peace.

Together with the poor trade proposal and the personal attack and the fact your name is Ricky (who I can only assume is Davis) fan, I think I shall ignore your thoughts from now on.

If where going to move Ray Allen it's for Tay and Rip or bust IMO.

i like it. i have no idea why the pistons would do it -- but i like it.

yea that's my Stance on it. i don't think the pistons would ever do it, but if it was one the table i'd give it a real long look, and probably pull the trigger, much as i like ray.

Rip isn't as good as ray, but he's pretty darn good, and it gives you prince as a  defender off the bench and your 6th man.

um that's three SFs with no SGs. and one of those three is going to be very unhappy about minutes (read: maggette). bbd and turiaf to similar. pass.

That'd be a good trade for the C's. I'm not sure I want to eat Rip's new extension though. But its hard to argue that it'd improve the team overall. You'd lose some at SG but gain a starting caliber SF.

But I don't think the Pistons would do it.

jackson plays the two alot in GS...you could in theory put him there full time. not sure if it would work, but you could do it

right. finding a back-up for PP is pretty key this offseason, and to me the #1 reason we weren't more comeptitive this postseason, even without KG. the guy is dead tired. i wouldn't immediately say no to scal+tony for posey if it meant you knew paul would have a capable back-up with heart.
