Do we want to win? Are you **** kidding me? I don't care if we lose by a combined score of 400 in a swept vs. Cleveland, OF COURSE you want to win. If you don't want to win, go be a Cavs bandwagoner and not a Celtics fan.

Worst tread ever.

Its not about being a bandwaog fan either. If we get by the Magic and get humiliated by Cleveland, would you really want to watch that? It's all I'm asking.

Absolutely.  Every day we extend our season in the playoffs is a good one in my book.

I will register with the rest of the panel that I won't need hindsight to answer this one: I want to go as far as possible every year, and however the road ends, I'll be glad we got as far as we did.

I would find a loss tonight would be far worse than any misery we could suffer against Cleveland as far as wins and losses are concerned.

Fair enough and thanks for the non-flame reply. It was just a question I posed. I just wish some on here would see it as a philosophical question before jumping the gun and revoking my fan card.

There is no need to ask a dumb question. Any true Celtics fan would want to make it as far as possible no matter what happens. Its a ridiculous thread.

You can act high and mighty uber celtic fan if you want. But I do believe you gave up on them during game five when the chips were down and you said you wernt going to watch game six if they didnt come back.

That's true; I also remember him doing that.

Answering your question: yeah, totally.

to the OP, yes I do want us to advance, it's very unlikely that we'll win yes.  But the odds we have of beating the Cavs is about the same odds people gave Atlanta when we played them last year in the first round, and they took us 7 games.  Im sure no one was giving Golden State a chance when they beat Dallas a few years ago.  You never know man.  Also dont forget, I know we dont have homecourt advantage, but we DID beat the Cavs by double digits WITHOUT KG in the regular season.  It's possible.

We have all summer to talk free agents, the draft, and all that non-sense, I'll play one more series doesnt matter who it's against.

Also, while this question was a no brainer for me, dont get down on yourself because some people were attacking you earlier in the thread.  The one guy that was doing it on the first page, routinely gives up on the team in the game threads, then magically appears once we're back in the game.  So some people need to take a long look at what kind of fan they are before they start throwing the microscope on someone else.

*on a different note, someone said earlier in the thread that this reminds them of the days you could give negative tommy points, or something like that.  Could you really do that back in the day on here??

  • The good ole days.
I honestly think this is the first time I've ever heard someone ask this question.

Yes, of course you want to win.  KG can come back healthy... LeBron could get injured in game 1... Pierce could get hot... Allen could get hot...  there is always a chance to win as long as you're alive.

"It ain't about me.  It's about us."  - KG, interview with John Thompson, 2005 All Star Game.

Yes, of course I want them to advance.  However, the OP sparks a dilemma brewing inside me that I suspect will lead some to question my C's fanhood.

The key premise for my dilemma is that I hate the Lakers almost as much as I love the Celtics.  I'm not proud of that -- I shouldn't care so much about another team losing -- but I do.  So, IF it were possible to see into the future and IF the C's somehow (perhaps via KG rising from the ashes heroics) were to outlast the Cavs, and IF the C's were to face LA and lose, then I might wish, in hindsight, that the Cavs had gone to the Finals to beat LA.  This convaluted thinking will actually NEVER result in me rooting for anything other than a C's victory, but it does torture my sorry mind.
