I've had a man crush on Salmons for awhile.  People say he's a one year wonder, and basically a rich man's Tony Allen.  I don't see it.  He can shoot, drive, and defend, and he can explode for a lot of points in a short period of time.  I think he's perfect for most teams as a second scoring option.

Shoot, drive, defend, think the game.

That's three out of four that Tony Allen can't do, and four's debatable.

I was really sorry to see Sactown deal Salmons, given their new relationship with us as Danny's little brothers.

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
I'm not that crazy about him, but he's a good player, I don't think he could ever really be a 1-3 option on a good team, probably a better sixth man in my opinion, on a championship calibur team at least.

My friend, who is a Sixers fan, hates Salmons. When Salmons was on the sixers, he would NEVER pass the ball. He is a great player, but I know everyone had to notice those few plays in this series where he would keep the ball at the top of the key while the shot clock was running down. He would then just chuck up the ball before the buzzer, but still having a surprisingly good success rate at it.

He's a great player, but he feels like he should be the first scoring option on a team. Hopefully it will never come to that on the C's... that we're so bad that we need Salmons as our first option. I just dont think that he is a good fit on such a team-oriented team.

Great player, no doubt.

He did however jack up a lot very difficult  and heavily contested shots instead of passing and giving his team the possibility to get a better look...

When he hit those he looked brilliant, but when he missed...
Same thing goes for ben gordon, but he never missed...

Actually a lot of bulls fans think that these two either have to learn how to play team ball or leave chitown this offseason.

He's a very good player. The only thing that bothers me is that he dribbles too much. He's an excellent defender, though. Great player. He'd be a good third option on any team.

I was not surprised w/Salmons play..i caught him all season off/on.I ck'd the scouting report on him before the playoffs, where he is said to be a very good defensive player.I knew he was a good player but he is probably the second best offensive player on the Bulls.

just to clarify i was in no way suggesting he should be a starter for us.. he just seems like a good all around player with a good attitude.. id love to see someone like him come off our bench, but that is just dreaming anyway

Obviously a great player, but he's much better in his own head and that's his biggest problem. This guy wouldn't check his ego at the door and is virtually a black hole.

He had a pretty good season last year too when Artest was hurt. Hell Artest even offered to come off the bench so that the Kings could give more playing time (don't know how serious he was lol).

This is the same John Salmons that might have shot Chicago out of this series right? He had one great game and a handful of mediocre to good games. He only shot better then 40% from the field in 2 games this series, while shooting under 36% four times. Granted he's played out of his mind this season, but his increased scoring has mostly been because of his improved three point % and his willingness to chuck better then 3.5 a game after being about  32% 3Pt shooter for his career before this season. He fell right back to that average for the playoffs and still decided that it was a good idea to throw up 5.5 per game, that really hurt the bulls.

All told I agree with the poster who said that he's best suited for the 6th man roll. I think if he's your 3rd option you're not better then a first round and out playoff team. haha.  ;)

but wow, Rose averaging 5 TO's a game to his 6.4 APG. That's a 1.28 A/TO ratio, while he averaged 2.52 A/TO during the regular season. that's what stands out to me the most looking through the stats from this series.

Ben Gordon also missed a lot. We remember the great makes for Gordon, but he had many more misses at important moments. When Gordon hits, it is often fool's gold, because his attempts are low percentage.

That is why I don't get too worried when Gordon hits a few tough jumpers. It often just means he is setting himself up to take some ill-advised shots.

Agreed. But gordon has still been the guy that has kept chicago in this series.

Many of those games i just thought gordon was due to miss one of his jumpers, and sure he didn't have an abnormal shooting percentage and his shot selection was horrible, but he usually hit those that hurt us...

If you're doc you gotta realise that these shots have been defended very well and have all been contested. Just keep playing him like that let hime jack up those shots, if he makes 'em, nothing you can do about it... (and i give him credit for having done exactly that!). Ray, Steph and Tony all did a fine job defending him but he just shot out of his mind for most of the series.
(This is something that could happen against orlando as well. They can heat up from three and the celtics will have to keep the faith that the threeball won't fall all the time for them and not open up the paint for howard and lewis too much...)

I sure understand some bulls fans that don't like the ben gordon and john salmons isolation plays as the bulls only option late in a close game, even though they been working surprisingly often...
