... this was easily the 2nd best game I have ever witnessed after the Phoenix vs Celtics triple overtime gem back in the 70's.
... after the 1981 Sixers-Celtics epic 7 game series in 1981 where Boston came back from 3-1 down to win with three nail biters in the final three games, this is the best series I've ever seen.
... the refs were terrific, stupendous, incredible and nearly flawless in this game which makes this easily one of the best games in recent NBA history. So many famous games since the Jordan era were famous because of close games and some controversy over the officiating. This was a flawlessly called game that had two teams hitting each other back and forth and the players decided who won and lost. Unbelievable!
Maybe someone should tell David Stern that manipulating game outcomes through officiating, or through choosing who refs what games, doesn't need to happen as, if he just let the players decides who wins and loses that the game of basketball will sell itself due to the drama involved.
... Boston has solidified their core stars going forward in the future. Maybe Perk and Baby won't be NBA superstars, but this series has been their coming out party in telling the NBA that they will be warrior, dependable, tough, poised, B-level star players with a championship pedigree for a long time to come. The Rondo, Baby, and Perk trio who are 23, 23 and 24 years old collectively is an extraordinary trio of very young players that all have championship rings and have shown that they will and can and do produce in the most important of games. How many teams can say that?
... I think, win or lose, this Celtics team and Doc Rivers should be loved in this town forever because with the adversity of being down so many players late in the season including their star player, having to play their star players big minutes to secure playoff seeding, and playing a team much younger through 7 overtime periods in six games and having players fouling out, they still came at the Bulls and played unbelievably great ball. Doc has done fabulous coaching over the last two months and this team has shown the heart and poise and dignity of one of the greatest teams of all time.
... the most games Mikki Moore will ever play in a Celtics uniform is lower by one game.
... Eddie House finally hit a shot and it was an important one under pressure. Maybe that will springboard him onto a great game 7 and hopefully an extended playoff postseason to come.
... the Celtics finally started playing Celtic championship defensive basketball in the second half and made most of the Bulls possessions tough ones to score on.
... if they lose Saturday night they will get the nice long Summer this team desperately needs to heal, re-energize and remake itself for what will be a championship team next year. As a matter of fact, I will guarantee that if the Celtics lose game 7 at home to the Bulls, they will win it all next year. GUARANTEED. It would be the equivalent of the 1983 sweep at the hands of the Bucks that propelled the Celtics to the 1984 Championship and banner #15.
