considering all the calls that didn't go our way (including the b.s. calls against ray allen), i don't want to hear the bulls saying we've been getting an unfair advantage because of this. could it have been called a flagrant? depends...he was going for the ball on a play. brad miller threw his elbow at baby and they pulled that back to a technical foul, so his complaining about us (which he is doing - basically saying we've been hacking the bulls all series long and not getting called for it, which is hilarious) is pretty [dang] ironic. and i'm a brad miller fan. he (and chicago) need to step back and realize they've gotten so many calls against us thus far, and just suck this one up.

Then the rule should be changed.   Gordon stepped out of bounds, fact.  If they see it and don't reverse it while looking at something else the rule is stupid.  And if they want to say whether or not Rondo's last second foul on Miller was a flagrant or not, it doesn't matter.   Gordon stepped out of bounds, the game was over at that point. The Rondo play is debatable it is not a fact that it was a flagrant.  The Ben Gordon play was a fact, he stepped out of bounds.  That rule is garbage it should be changed.

I don't agree that refs sucked though. They just let them play very physical down low. Same thing as last year in the playoffs. Last year, it benefited us big time, so I would be a hypocrite to want this to turn into the WNBA this season.
The way this team is currently constituted, anytime the refs let Perk and Baby play is a real good thing and that's the one positive from tonight as far as the refs were concerned.  But calling touch fouls on a key guy like Ray is just ridiculous.

Can people really just stop complaining about how he stepped out of bounds?! No one realized it until they reviewed the play, and there really wasn't definite evidence based on the few angles that were shown. It was a smart play by Gordon to shoot into TA and it was a dumb play by TA to get so close. Thats all there is to it.

As for Rondo's foul, it was a flagrant. We got a big break on that call. The refs didn't call it because of how important the situation was. If that play happened in the 2nd quarter, there is no doubt that they would have gotten two shots and the ball.

...suck. Period. There are really no
conspiracies, just different rules for
different players. It just plain sucks.

Noonw rwealized it but I think the ref that was standing 3 feet away should have. If I was as bad at my job as most nba refs are at theirs, I would be collecting unemployment.

Agreed.  There needs to be a way to hold refs more accountable.
It would be good to have a system where someone would be rating the refs in the NBA. Anyone any thoughts on how to make a rating system actually work? It's morning over here in Holland and my brain doesn't quite work yet.

The out of bounds claim - which wasn't conclusive on TV - is just an excuse for a catastrophically stupid play by a guy whose career is marked by them.

And I do not agree about the Rondo foul. Flagrant carries with it a presumption of intent, and I can't see the intent there.

But, I guarantee you that if the Danny Crawford-Bill Kennedy crew had been calling the game, Miller would still be shooting foul shots.

Yes the out of bounds play was conclusive.   Watch the play Gordon takes one more step back before he goes up to shoot and his foot is clearly on the line. Fact.  Plus you are not even getting the best replay of the play and you can clearly see that Gordon's foot is out of bounds, it is impossible considering the size of someone's foot for him not to be stepping out of bounds by looking at the replay and how far back is foot goes when he stepped back. Anybody who says Gordon was out of bounds does not know what they are talking about. His foot was clearly out of bounds, it wasn't even close it was conclusive on the replay. At least the Rondo play was debatable, the Gordon play was not, and if the Gordon play was called correctly the last play with Rondo would not even happen. Tired of people not getting calls correctly that have nothing to do with the intent of the foul, whether it was flagrant or not.  Someone steps out of bounds it is a turnover, not a 3 point play.

Not sure if this was in the thread yet, but the late whistles are unbelievable. When the ball's already been rebounded it's too late to call a foul on the shot. When the defender's already getting up off the floor it's too late to call a blocking foul.

I guess on that Tony Allen play where he got called on Ben Gorden on that 3 point attempt, the referee was staring at Tony Allen's hand without consideration to Ben Gorden's foot position. It is tough to get a correct angle shot to verify Ben Gorden's exact foot position when he went into his jump shot move. The referee was standing there and it his responsibility to figure out if Ben Gorden is inbounds or not. Considering the events were right in front of the Boston Celtics bench, they would have argued out of bounds vociferously in that situation. This really did not happen to my amazement.

Gosh those whole series has has a lot of basketball stuff come up.

BTW, our buddy Bill Kennedy was at it again last night at the Denver-NO game.  Just watching the game casually I saw:

- Sean Marks trying to save the ball under the Denver basket: the ball hit literally a foot out of bounds (I replayed it) and bounced to Posey inbounds.  Standing within 4 feet staring directly at the play:  Bill Kennedy.  Play on.

- Chauncey Billups trying to prevent a backcourt violation: Chauncey jumped over the half-court line, caught the ball, and came down in the backcourt before even beginning his throwing motion.  Standing within 4 feet staring directly at the play: Bill Kennedy.  Play on.

At least he's even-handed with the incompetence, and it obviously didn't affect the outcome, but yeesh - what's it take to get a guy like that fired, anyway?
