Look, I never complain about the refs.

It's a part of the game... some calls go your way some calls don't.

But this game has been ridiculous.  Some of these calls on Ray... just wow.  They are non-calls.  Especially on a guy like Ray.  And especially in a game like this.

The reffing in the NBA is very suspect in many, many cases.

Agreed.  There needs to be a way to hold refs more accountable.
Celtics fan for life.

Also loved that they reviewed whether Gordon was behind the three point line, but somehow missed the fact that he stepped out of bounds before he shot it.  Brilliant.

And listen, did the C's get away with a few calls here and there?  Yes.  But you have to look how the league works.  Veterans and superstars get calls.  The C's aren't getting that respect, which is putting them at an even bigger disadvantage to the Cavs, where LeBron walks on water and doesn't commit fouls (according to the refs and league).  A couple calls go differently in the first four games, and this game doesn't even happen.

The fact that Ray Allen fouled out on the fouls he did was ridiculous.  This would not have happened to the Lakers or Cavs.

I really hope Doc calls them out on it tonight and just takes the fine.  They need to feel watched next game.

Are they allowed to review whether or not he was inbound?

Great game and win.

In the NFL, NFL Network has a segment every week where the league's head ref dissects and explains controversial calls. Something similar can be done in the NBA.

Also, fines need to become more visible. There should be a flopping penalty or the fans should know which players are getting fined (if any). Falling after every shot can't be rewarded.

Maybe there should be a fourth ref who watches the game on a monitor and communicates through a headset. I have no idea, but between Ray's fouls and Noah's moving picks this game and spread was dictated by the refs.

some horrid calls:

-gordon out of bounds
-ray's last foul
-heinrich pulling Perk down to the ground by the neck
-pierce having heinrich fall on his back and no call
-rose getting a foul late

bad

I agree- Allen and Gordon have been holding and smacking each other all series on screens and none of them are being called.  Very similar to last year with Hamilton and the Pistons.  But that call on Ray on the baseline, the double foul with Miller, and Ben Gordon stepping out of bounds on that replay no-less, are mind-boggling!

I'm not a conspiracy guy, and I don't think the refs intentionally fouled Ray out or anything, but, if the refs had set out to intentionally foul him out, it would've looked a lot like that.  That last foul was comically bad.

Also, how the hell does Doc complain about the refs and suddenly the point of emphasis is Ray Allen defending cuts?  What does it take for this team to get any respect out there?

I think out-of-bounds isn't reviewable - they couldn't do anything about it even if they saw it.  Hope they saw it and it moved their head a millimeter further out of their "butts" (can't say real word) though

here's the thing that is p---ing me off right now. the C's just had a big win, paul pierce down the strech, rondo, this whole series. perk with his huge game, and all that I am think of right now, is how bad the refs were tonight. Celtics won, and the first thing I did was talk about how bad the refs were tonight, and this series.

David stern just doesn't want to get booed again in boston while handin us another trophy.

Looks it, found this on Wiki:

"In NBA basketball, the officials must watch an instant replay of a buzzer beater to determine if the shot was released before time expired.

Beginning with the 2007-08 season, replay also can be used in determining players being ejected from contests involving brawls or flagrant fouls. In the 2008-09 season, replay may also be used to correctly determine whether a scored field goal is worth two or three points. It may also be used to determine the correct amount of free throws awarded for a missed field goal."

if i were doc, i'd raise some serious hell in interviews between now and the next game. get fined. whatever. tonight was ridiculous again. we got away with some stuff, too, but to call touch fouls on ray allen to foul him out is insane. they made a point not to call that 6th foul on rose in game 1 a few times. ray allen is a HOFer, and those b.s. calls (especially the last two fouls on him) probably should have cost us the game. is there a conspiracy? i dunno. do the refs absolutely suck? absolutely. and we're on the short end of the stick way too often.
