I wasn't impressed with him in game 1 and 2.  He took 40 wide open shots and happened to knock down half.  Big deal.  Pulled down like 6 rebounds every 40 minutes.  Big deal.

But I gotta give him props tonight.   I guess I'll stop saying he sucks.  He's looking more and more like a poor man's* homeless man's Antoine Walker.

Believe it or not, next to Rondo, BBD is my favorite player to watch.

He just flat out hustles everytime he's on the floor and he has been very ably filling in the shoes of KG in the sense that we are only missing KG;s defense but offensively they are almost the same in terms of production...BBD's numbers since starting for us has been quite remarkable considering the guy is only in his second yr.
Part of me really wishes he would stay...Next Boozer if you'd ask me what his ceiling is.O perhaps Antoine W. with a better Jumper without the love for the 3 pt shot.

If Turkoglu opts out, Orlando would be wise to snag Big Baby - hurt one of your competitors while helping yourself. A full-MLE deal is not out of the question.
"All I have to know is, he's my coach, and I follow his lead. He didn't have to say anything in here this week. We all knew what we had to do. He's a big part of our family, and we're like his extended family. And we did what good families do when one of their own is affected." - Teddy Bruschi

Doc is just showcasing him.

That may be true.
But remember, KG is out, Powe is out,
Scals is out too. Not much bench left!

Yep.  He's being showcased.  We all know Doc would rather play Mikki Moore. ::)

Why do people ignore IQ (Baby's is high)?

Why do people ignore hustle and heart (Baby's is great)?

Why do people ignore athletic ability simply because of the weight issue(Baby is an awesome athlete)?

Why do people freak out over 1 inch in height when the production is there (Baby produces)

Why do people not mention that he's a second year player who is supposed to be a backup(Baby is only in his second year and his doing fine as a starter)

Why do people not think about slightly thinner, more muscular Baby in years to come(Baby will be thinner and more muscular?

Why do people freak out when he gets his shot blocked (guess what it happens to taller players too)?

People, look at production, IQ and intangibles and stop bemoaning the size issue.  We all wish Baby was 6 feet 10.  But he's not, so get over it.  If he's overmatched in the Cleveland series it's because we don't have enough bigs to make proper substitutions, and that's the fault of injuries and lack of a PJ Brown-type, not because Baby sucks.  So get the freak on board for once in your lives and stop playing the all-knowing skeptic!!!!!!!

Last night Big Baby (the big fat overgrown PG that i love) put up a ridiculous statline last night.

Rajon Rondo-   20pts, 11reb, 6ast, 5stl
Glen BB Davis-  14pts, 9reb, 6ast, 6stl, 3blk

espn put up a stat saying that Rondo is 1 of 5 players to put up 20pts, 10reb, 5ast, 5stls since 1990.... if BBD got 1 more rebound they both would have done it.

For Orlando? I think it probably would be out of the question. Maybe another team. We'll see how Big Baby continues to play in the playoffs.

I've always loved BBD, even since his LSU days.  And thats saying something, b/c i'm a UK fan.

I'm so happy he's living up to his potential, and honestly, i think he is still underappreciated.  The hustle and ability of BBD has always been overlooked due to his height or weight or his lack of offensive consistency.

Since he has found to be money on his jumper, he's developed a new found swagger.  He's been playing out of his mind, and does things daily that most PFs his size cannot do.

Bottom line, if he were 4 inches taller, everyone would be be talking about him as the future of the franchise...

Yaay BBD.  Yaay Celts.  Please, God, let us resign him.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I don't really care too much about the assist, and steals. I just want him to keep hitting those open shots, and keep rebounding. He's far to inconsistent with his rebounding.

A great game from him, none the less

Big Baby is really huge for the Celtics in these playoffs and he is a must-sign player this summer. He almost had a quadruple double in game 3! :o

However, I wonder if he'll continue to be so productive when he'll be playing with the bench next year. I remember that his stats were clearly up as a starter but not so much as part of the second unit, even when KG was out. I think that Paul, Ray, Rajon and Perk's presences help him to get confident and attack the lane, the opponent defense is less focused on BBD.

He's playing well.  And I am glad to see that he is making the other team pay for ignoring him on offense.  But let's not go completely overboard either.  BBD basically isn't being guarded at all.  He still will only be successful on a team with other good players.  If BBD had to be a primary option, I don't think he could pull it off (i.e., he is a complimentary player).

But yeah, for this team, he's doing well.

The assists do matter though. Baby will never be a good defensive rebounder. He needs contribute in other ways.

Attacking the basket and then passing to teammates for easy buckets is a big part of doing just that.
