you know what, either KG just plays or he goes and has surgery for next year. i'm getting sick of this, our players minds are in limbo.

I don't think the players minds are in limbo much anymore.  Doc has been pretty clear that KG is not going to be back anytime soon, and probably isn't coming back at all.  The problem is with the media, who refuse to take that as an answer, and feel the need to ask the question everyday hoping for a different answer.

Personally I think keeping the hope that he will return helps the players. That way they can keep their championship drive alive. No KG + Powe = No chance at a title. Possible KG = hope. I like the "Anything's Possible" hope.

Fine, but why did Doc said that there was a chance he could play (even if it's totally unlikely) while he said some days ago with frustration that KG wasn't coming back and that he wouldn't answer questions about him anymore? Even in Monday's post game conference he thought a reporter was asking him a question about KG and he reacted quickly to say that he wasn't going to answer it before realizing his mistake.

Why continue to talk to the media about KG after this? This is what I don't understand. Still I've accepted the fact that Garnett won't play in these playoffs but this quote gave me hope for limited time and I'm tired of being disappointed everyday about this story.

He's telling the truth.  There is still a chance KG will come back, but it is very unlikely.  That is the same thing he has been saying ever since last Thursday when they shut him down.  He has gotten frustrated at times with the media, who keep asking the same questions, but he has been saying the same thing all along.

The bottom line is nothing has changed, and as soon as something does change, they will say so.

come on, look at the context of the question he was answering:

Quote
When asked if Garnett could play if the Celtics advance to conference finals, Rivers replied, "There's a chance he could play tonight, but he's not.

Reporter: Is there a chance he will play if you guys make it to the conference finals?
Doc: Oh yeah there's a "chance". There's also a "chance" he could play TONIGHT, but he's not.

seems like doc being very tongue in cheek to me.

Stop!!!!!!

Doc, you are killing me.

I love KG being on the bench.  It adds to our intensity, but to imagine having him in uniform is too much of a tease if it's not actually going to happen.  But, heck, if we get #18 by doing this, Doc can tease me all he wants.

Look, the C's have no chance of WINNING IT ALL without KG.  KG isn't having surgery, and he wants to play as much as anyone in this world.

Why would Doc say he doesn't know when he's coming back, but he definitely could at some point?  He has NOTHING to gain by that.  Then all he will hear is questions about Garnett.  However, Doc is a fairly honest man, so he just says don't expect him to play, etc, etc, but never rules it completely out.

KG will be back at some point in these playoffs.  All the sheep in the media and in the fan zone will be proven wrong.  Don't believe everything you hear/read.

He can't even go down STAIRS and Doc thinks he can play?  Please, just let the poor man get his surgery already.
If I am reading his quote correctly, I think Doc is just saying that there is a chance.  As in, 0.000000001 chance but a chance (as is, "so you're saying there is a chance?").

Exactly a chance but not one that is significant enough to talk about right now.

I wouldn't be ruling KG coming back so quickly.  Again, if he was really out, they would have given him surgery already.  While I wouldn't say there's a great chance he's coming back, I'd put it at far better than .0000001% or whatever another post said.  If the C's somehow get past Chicago and Orlando without him, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him suit up.

And for all the talk of this messing with the players' heads, who's to say they're as in the dark as we are?  For all we know Doc and Danny have pulled them aside, told them KG is likely back in a month, and told them they're going to play games with other teams through the media.

Sad, but if he can cover Mikki Moore's munutes, I'm sure the C's would benefit.  If he give that effectively though he's going to want more.
Yup

I think they are just going to rest him as long as possible and hope he make s areal good trun for the better with another 3-4 weeks rest if we can get throught the first two rounds without him.

Sometimes like with  a cold, you feel like crap and then you finally turn that corner. They've always he can play with the spur, the tendon has to heal and it's just taking longer then they expected. Perhaps that extra 3-4 weeks might be enough ( a lucky turn) to have KG turn the corner...

Either way, they should wait on the surgery until we are 100% for sure out of the playoffs. another month or two won't hurt KG's recovery time I doubt in coming back for next season.

Just wati and keep letting him rest.

There's a chance KG will wake up tomorrow and feel much better.

It can happen.  There's no hurry to do the surgery.

Maybe, just maybe, when we do need him he will be there.  Lets keep our fingers crossed.  But we have to spend it wisely because when/if he comes in and may not last long.  So, grasshopper, spend your good fortune wisely.
