Today he shot some jumpers and worked with Perk on some post moves. Aparently Doc said "There's a chance he could play tonight, but he's not. We just hope that he keeps getting better. And if [a return later in the postseason] happens it would be great, obviously. Like I said before, I don't think it's going to happen." Maybe he could come back Round two? if we even make it past Chicago.Which we will Pierce is gonna pick us back up til KG's back and he'll still have us on his back then.

I guess Doc's reports will confuse us until the playoffs are finished...

And what are your sources?

After a quick search I found the article on Boston.com :

Quote
CHICAGO -- Injured Celtics forward Kevin Garnett was very visible at today's shootaround at Moody Bible Institute, but he didn't look like someone who would be playing basketball soon.

Garnett, sidelined with a strained knee for possibly the entire postseason, used a handrail to help descend a flight of steps from a workout room to the court. He limped noticeably while walking on hardwood floor, where he shot some jumpers and took some time to help Kendrick Perkins on his post moves.

Garnett did not speak to the media afterward, and his status for the rest of the postseason remains uncertain.

When asked if Garnett could play if the Celtics advance to conference finals, Rivers replied, "There's a chance he could play tonight, but he's not. We just hope that he keeps getting better. And if [a return later in the postseason] happens it would be great, obviously. Like I said before, I don't think it's going to happen."

Rivers said he appreciated Garnett's contributions in helping to prepare the team.

"I call him Coach Garnett, after earlier saying I wouldn't," Rivers said. "He's doing it [acting like a coach] anyway. He's been great. His communication with our bigs in practices, he's doing film work . . . he's been very, very good in that aspect."

In other news, point guard Rajon Rondo said his ankle, which he sprained in Game 2, felt fine and he's ready to go. Also, forward Brian Scalabrine, who suffered multiple concussions this season, is expected to play tonight for first time since Feb. 23.

He can't even go down STAIRS and Doc thinks he can play?  Please, just let the poor man get his surgery already.

Now if anyone wants some coolaid (green).  When I had some knee issues in my chosen sport I was playing 1/2 a season with tears and would run slower but straight forward not a problem.  Cutting and going down stairs was very painful/impossible.
I think if we need him in THIS series he'll play.  They are trying to hold him for next series or when he's really needed.

eh... if he was officially done they would have said he was officially done and put him in surgery already.  He probably has a few games in him at 50% effectiveness (and then it will swell up to the point where he can't move) and they are just trying not to waste them on the 1st round.

If I am reading his quote correctly, I think Doc is just saying that there is a chance.  As in, 0.000000001 chance but a chance (as is, "so you're saying there is a chance?").

he could go down just needed a handrail and limping happens when u havent streched to me all the time plus if you can shoot jumpers and work on post moves your fine to play basketball in a week or so i sprained my shooting arm elbow and wasnt supposed to do anything for a month and a half and 5 days later i could shoot with an under armor compression sleeve on kg's gonna be fine to play soon im assuming

I guess Doc is not really a doc.

Only if quotes are cherrypicked out without context.  In context it was clear Doc was just being hyperbolic.

The bottom line is KG is hurt, and while there is a chance he comes back before the playoffs, it will take a bit of a miracle.

I think this is the key.  I get the sense Doc is tired of hearing questions about it, so he responded that their is a chance, but clearly isnt going to happen.  if the guy is in pain walking down stairs, he isnt running around a court.

you know what, either KG just plays or he goes and has surgery for next year. i'm getting sick of this, our players minds are in limbo.
