yes this is really a bad day.

Why havn't they mentioned anything about surgury? I mean he had to damage something in his knee that will require surgury. He must have got a MRI? This is killing me not knowing, and the fact that we didn't know till today.

It's a good thing we got a ring last year because it may be the last one for a while.

Let me get the sarcastic yet realistic thread out of the way; trade Allen and pierce while they still have value for young talent and picks. Rondo is the franchise guy now.

#1-We would have beat the Lakers with or without Bynum last year.  We were the better team and we proved it throughout the season.

#2-This is terrible news for sure and I think the organization could have been more upfront with the fans from the beginning.

#3-We have a group of players that believe in themselves and each other.  They've faced adversity all year long and handled it admirably. They've scratched and they've clawed and they've eeked out wins game after game with makeshift lineups.  You can count on one hand the number of times they've been blown out. I for one am not giving up on them.  You want to pronounce the playoffs over fine, but not me.
GO CELTICS!

I think if he had surgery the recovery would be far to long to be ready for the playoffs.  If its a spur like its sometimes reported, surgery isn't a great option.  Mike Dunleavy just had surgery on a bone spur in his knee and they say he won't be ready until some time in 2010.

Why does everyone think the team has been so dishonest?  We were given frequent updates.  When KG decreased his activity, he eventually felt better.  When he increased his activity, he got worse.  Where is the dishonesty?

I think more liekly its a fairly routine procedure that would keep him out for a month or two, and if they do it pre playoffs, it raises all kinds of questions...such as why they didn't catch the spur and do the surgery 2-3 months ago.

i dont think we'll ever know the story behind the injury, but the most logical would be, to me:

1. missed the spur (which is easy to do), diagnosed a sprain.
2. after a month or more, sprain not healing as fast as expected, second examination done
3. spur found with not enough time to do the surgery and get him back for the playoffs, so they decided to see if rest and rehab would let him play out the string till they could do the surgery in the post season.

I guess we find out if Rondo, Glen Davis, Perkins, and Leon Powe HAVE GOT GAME. We know Ray Allen and Paul Pierce HAVE GOT GAME. The defense isn't as good without KG but the offense is still capable.

Maybe Stephon, Eddie, and Tony Allen can surprise us.

I say completely shut him down until the ECF. That will give him about 3-4 weeks to rest it and if he is 70% ready now, maybe he can get to 90% by then. We can easily beat the Bulls w/o Garnett and I really think we can win the Magic series w/o him.

But, we need him for the Cavs and possibly Finals!!!!!

The ECF probably won't start until mid May, that gives him a month, shut him the f*ck down and get him ready for the ECF....We still have 2 Hall of Famers...Celts will win the next 2 series w/o Garnett!!!!!!!!

You can't be sarcastic and realistic at the same time.
Besides, IMO this isn't the time or the place for this kind of crap.

It was quite obvious something was not being told to us. Certain quotes like this will shorten career by Ainge and Rivers were a dead giveaway. If KG cannot play at all, you can only imagine how severe this injury really is. He cant even be on bench because he is too excitable and stands the whole time. There is no doubt they have not been telling us the whole story so not to affect playoff sales and fan morale.

Even though I was expecting this horrible news to be released, I still almost spit my coffee out of my mouth when I opened up the site this morning. Ugh..couldn't sleep last night for some reason as well.

I am fearful that KG of the past will never be KG of the future. It is unfortunate.

I still look forward to the playoffs but now my expectations have been lowered to tough round 1 and a really, really tough round 2. We would need to see a super PP and RA and a huge leap by Rondo and Powe/Baby to even get by the Magic.

I just hope KG's career is not done.
