According to the celticsblog front page, KG could possibly miss the entire 2009 playoffs. This would be a huge blow. Idk how we could beat the cavs w/o him. wow this sucks

Doc Rivers is on WEEI reporting that "there is a strong possibility he will miss the entire playoffs."

I think he'll play. Might not be ready for the start of the playoffs, but he'll play, and I think he'll play even if he's not ready. We'll see.

I ask though, in the case he doesn't play, do you guys think he'll join the team on the bench or stay in the locker room? I don't mind when he doesn't during the season, but he should join the team even if he can't play on the bench.

The media was just reporting what the Celtics organization told them, it's not like they're personally misdiagnosing him or something.

This is awful news, but unfortunately not surprising - it was obvious something was really wrong after they shut him down and kept pushing back the date of his return.  I hope he can be back to full strength next season.

Meanwhile, we've still got a pretty good team to cheer for, but I think a repeat is probably out of the question :(, unless KG pulls off some kind of 21st century Willis Reed maneuver.  Hopefully we have a good run, then try to be the reverse Spurs and keep winning it in even years.

Didn't they say a few weeks ago that, "If today was game 1 of the playoffs, he would be playing."  How did this happen? Did it really get worse? Couldn't something (surgery, perhaps) have been done months ago, so that he was ready for the playoffs?

I'm just so disappointed... this was handled very very poorly.

I don't think the Celts have been lying to the media at all.  It's an inflammation issue, which means after he does nothing for a while it feels better.  When they try to increase the workload, it flares up after a while.  I don't think anyone was dishonest.
Well, at least everyone else is pretty healthy.  We're still going to be a tough team.
Maybe this is payback for Celtics fans basically laughing at Bynum's injury last year.  Now we can empathize.

Even though I expected Garnett to be out for the playoffs, the way the Celtics organization handled this was a slap in the face to every Celtics fan. I'd shut KG down until we get to play Cleveland. Yes, I do believe this team can get to the Eastern Conference Finals without KG. But it doesn't seem as if KG's injury will get better with time. He should have gotten surgery back when he suffered the injury. This has become a terrible spectacle.
