The Celtics if they're motivated and playing well especially on defense will be tough to beat in a series. They can beat the Cavs. But they need to show up focused from the tip. Slow starts won't cut it in the playoffs.
At the very least Ray Ray should be fired up. Remember how he broke out his slump right around the time Lakers won the WCF then went on to have his best series against Kobe? Coincidence? I think not  ;D
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

Yeah right it was a blowout.   For the 2nd & 3rd Qts 24 full minutes Cavs outscored Celtics by 4 points.  How is that a blowout?  That's not taking a couple minutes here and a couple minutes there and adding them together.  Its 2 full quarters in a row.  9 minutes isn't a blowout. Especially in a regular season game after your playoff spot is already determined.

It's a blowout because they were blown out from the Opening Tip then never made any inroads. They lost by 31 points.  That's a blowout.

The outcome was never even close to being in question.

To me that's the definition of a blowout.
Yup

Regardless if you think its a blowout you can't take half the game 24 full minutes in a row and win by 4 points and say you are blowing out the opponent.

That's just a ridiculous argument. By that logic if a team goes up 100 in the first quarter, puts its whole bench in for the rest of the game while the other team plays its starters, and that team that went up 100 only manages to win the next three quarters by 4 points, then that game is not a blowout. That is exactly what your logic dictates, and its absurd.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

The Cavs played all their starters for the 2nd & 3rd Qts and so did the Celtics.  Thats 24 full minutes with all the starters in at Cle without Powe & KG when the Celtics have nothing to play for since their playoff spot is already determined. Celtics were outscored by a "blowout" 4 points.  If you want to call that a blowout go ahead, because its not to me.

The starters being in or not is irrelevant! You are missing the point entirely! Why does this even matter! It doesn't! God.

We got blown out, and everyone on this board knows it except you, apparently. Hold on to your ludicrous justifications if you must. I'm done discussing this topic on a thread that is supposed to be about the FUTURE and moving FORWARD to BEAT the Cavs in the playoffs. I am not here to rehash what happened on sunday. Peace.

What does this sentence exactly mean? Is it supposed to be understood literally? That Boston can beat Cleveland in the playoffs? Well, of course they can - but that's just stating the obvious. Almost every playoffs team can beat another one - all it's needed are 4 good nights. The C's can beat the Cavs, the Cavs can beat the Cs, the Cavs can beat the Pistons, the Pistons can beat the Cavs, the Bulls can beat the C's, and so on.

Why start a thread to state the uber-obvious? Or are people confident the Celtics will beat the Cavs? That would be worthy of discussion.

Seriously, Cordobes? What do you think the sentence meant, honestly?

Semantics and grammar are not at the heart of this thread. Why  you gotta be like that?

Honestly, I don't know. That's exactly why I asked. Be like what?

Oh... sorry Cordobes, I thought you were being smart and picking apart my grammar. I meant "can" as in "will". The Celtics WILL beat the Cavs. Sorry about the misunderstanding.

How sure are you about that? Are you positive? Willing to put your money where your mouth is?

And I direct these same questions to everyone who signed the statement. If people are actually sure the C's will beat Cleveland, I'm offering you a way to make some easy money.

You just said a team can go up 100 and put its bench it. That's not what happened. Go ahead call 9 minutes a blow out.

Regardless of what it was, we did worse to the Lakers in the deciding game of a Finals!  Boo yeah. Put it in your pipe and smoke it.   ;D

If you don't count all of the times the Cavs scored, the Celts outscored them 76-0.

Still nobody? I found this puzzling. All these people who are certain the C's will beat the Cavs and not a single one of them willing to comply with the aphorism "put your money where your mouth is"? Come on, this way you are allowing observers to question if you truly meant what you signed, no?

with KG at full strength - BOS and CLE (and LAL) are a coin flip matchup. Anyone can and should win.

With KG limping, we still have a shot.... but the odds are against us.

The C's wont go down easily in the playoffs though. Thats for darn sure!

Nobody is listening to what I am saying.   Go find another example of a "blowout" game in the NBA where the team who won played two consecutive quarters not including the 4th and only won those 2 quarters by 4 points or less.  I can't find one, so if you can find it , post it and then maybe you can prove my statements false.  The Celtics just clinched their playoff spot, sunday's game was the first meaningless game they have played all year.  And the 1st quarter was the first meaningless quarter they have played all year.  And you want them to come out all pumped up and exert their energy.  Had they gone down another 10 points in the 2nd & 3rd I would call it a blowout but they didn't.
