I also do not understand the need for Toronto to get in on the 2010 free agent class if they are rebuilding without Bosh. Clearly this is not a team that would be contending right away and so would not need/ could not attract a impact free agent.
Why be bad when you can be good?

They'd have Blake Griffin, Jose Calderon, their own 2009 Lottery pick and likely a 2010 Lottery pick.

Then they would also have Andrea Bargnani if they choose to resign him, or if they choose not to pay him, then the Raptors would have another $10mil to spend in free agency, or they could even trade Bargnani and pick up some more talent through that route. Then add the extra $10mil in cap savings from the Bosh trade, which if they let Bargnani walk would give them $20-25mil in cap space. They could create even more cap space if they jettisoned a few of those bad midlevel contracts.

The combination of that talent, those lottery picks, and that type of cash to spend ...

Why is this team not making a push to be good in 2010?

If they get rid of Bosh, they'd clearly be in a rebuilding phase. Frankly they're in a rebuilding phase now. They can take a year, and remember. Marion's contract comes off the books this year, and the lack of a true impact play that fits Toronto would likely cause Bosh to leave in 2010. So if they did this trade, not only would they gain a number one pick in addition to their own lottery pick, they would have 20 million dollars less salary ( in Marion and Darko alone) in 2010 then they do now, allowing them to sign any combination of tier 2 wings (which is their worst position currently) in that free agency class.

Another interesting thought is what does Toronto do if they get the #1 Pick ( Consensus is Griffin, but Toronto has Bosh) or #2 ( Likely Rubio, but they have Calderon)?

If you're Memphis, wouldn't you have serious reservation about the ability to resign Bosh in 2010?  Would Bosh be open to remaining in Memphis?  I'm not too sure of that.  At least with Griffin, they can get themselves a few years.

If he really wants to win, I think he would. Having moved to NW Mississippi, the only basketball I get ( aside from a subpar SEC season) is the Grizz. They have quite a bit of talent but they lack a number one scorer and someone to work the offense through. Both Gay and Mayo, at this time in their careers, would be fantastic number two options and would play well off of Bosh. Gasol, who is averaging 12 and 7 in his first year, could only benefit from having a skilled PF like Bosh compliment his game, instead of being paired in the front court with Hakim warrik or Darrell Arthur. Both Warrick and Arthur are fantastic bench big men, with Arthur having a chance to be a good starter one day, being forced to start.

They need a new coach to get them focused as a unit ( They're pregame is a joke), but they also need a verified star player who has carried a less talented team to the playoffs before to give them hope. If they pull off this trade, could you imagine an Eddie Jordan or a Avery Johnson NOT  wanting this job?

If the Raptors got the #1 pick they should select Blake Griffin and trade Andrea Bargnani. However, I think Bryan Colangelo will try to keep all three big men until it's evident (12 months time -- of course by then the Bosh situation could change everything) that the situation will not work and that he cannot fill the other holes in his roster without trading one of his prized possessions.

If the Raptors got the #2 pick and rated Rubio as such, I think they draft him, and keep him and Calderon for the next 1-2 years. Rebuild that point guard combination they had with TJ and Jose.

I don't think he'd resign. I think Memphis would win 35-40 games next season, which would have them missing the playoffs by about 10 games.

I think he'd bolt for the exit first chance he gets.

I'm in the same boat as you.  I don't think Bosh resigns if he's in Memphis.  Although, if the team showed significant improvement, that might just be enough to have him stick around.  However, I don't think that'll be the case.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. But if you get a chance, you guys should try and watch some Grizzlies games, with the exception of Washington, there is no bottom feeding team that has more talent.

Word out of OKC is the Thunder will break up the trio of Durant, Green and Westbrook to pick first if they don't get it.
and who's the 'word' saying OKC would move they're building blocks?

I'm assuming you mean that OKC would move someone to move up and get Griffin-- a combo of their lottery pick and either Westbrook or Green?  Unless they have the #2 pick and the team with the #1 could really use Rubio (in that case Green goes with the pick) I don't see them getting Griffin.
