I'd be up for a Tony, Scal, and Pruitt and a boatload of cash going to New Orleans for their 21st pick and James Posey. I think there are benefits for both teams.
For New Orleans:
- they get out from under Posey's remaining $19.5 million
- they get a boatload of cash with which, if they choose, they can buy out any or all of the players or just keep it.
- if they don't buy out the players, they get 3 expiring contracts.
- they get out from under having to guarantee a contract to a late first round draft pick in what many are calling one of the weaker draft classes in recent memory.
-there are a lot of fiscal problems that can be solved with this trade for a team that is in serious financial problems.
For the Celtics:
- they get back Posey, a much needed defensive minded wing player that can hit the three and who is a huge leader in the locker room and who's addition is a guaranteed positive and not a question mark like so many other additions could be.
- they get rid of Tony Allen and open up roster space to develop Giddens at the 2 position.
- they get a first round pick where there are some interesting players that could fit the C's long term needs. Wayne Ellington or Chase Buddinger as a Ray Allen replacement, Sam Young as a Pierce replacement, and/or a great role player such as Darren Collison, Tyler Hansborough, or BJ Mullens.
-they fill the desperate need at the back up wing without spending MLE money so that they could then use the MLE on a talented big like Rasheed Wallace or a talented guard that could play both positions like Andre Miller.
Possible final roster:
PG Rondo/Miller
SG Allen/House/Giddens
SF Pierce/Posey/Budinger/Walker
PF KG/Baby/Powe
C Perk/Nesterovic(signed with LLE)
