It wasn't meant to scare anybody. As a 21 year old seeing limited minutes, Bayless averaged 8.5 points per game last year. How many available guys -- let alone 21 year olds -- averaged that many points last year?
Flip Murray is one, but he's out of the league currently. Anybody else available? On the waiver wire, Bayless would have a ton of value, in my opinion.
More than T.J. Ford? Who would you drop for Bayless? You and I both found Flip on waivers last season. Because, whatever their per minute value, single digit scorers who shoot a bad percentage (41%) and contribute little else aren't worth all that much.
There was no ill intent on my part. I was just commenting on a questionable announcement/move.
I agree about Bayless's value. In a full keeper league, any team, especially one in need of talent, should snatch him up in a second. Once he's free of Portland, he should flourish.
I know there was no ill intent on anybody's part. But, same question, who would you drop?
Not for nothing, Jerryd has two more seasons in Portland, where he lacks the confidence of his coach - a coach who also has to find minutes for Wes Matthews and Rudy Fernandez. He offered 13th round per game value last year on a squad decimated by injury, and worse overall value. I don't see how his situation improves much this season. Yesterday, I read McMillan was telling him he has to look for his shot
less if he wants to play
more.
In hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have said anything and just put in the waiver claim.
That's right. But only because it would've been a Kevin Pritchard-esque move, further spoiling my plans, a la drafting Randy Foye in front of the Timberwolves.
