"cue the sportscenter intro"

blake and Gainesville Celtic have agreed in principle to a blockbuster trade:

Daniel Gibson

for

the right (blake's) to swap 1st round picks or in the case that GC has a worse pick, GC's 2nd round pick will be given to blake.

Yes, almost as big of a deal as the KG/Big Al trade.

jgod, have you signed up for the league yet? I don't see you among the list of current managers.

The Walker Wiggle and RebusRankin are the others yet to sign in.

EDIT: my mistake, both you and Dubs are there. So Rebus is the last one we are waiting on.

I'm putting the following players on the block:

Martell Webster
Dorell Wright
Jamario Moon
Zydrunus Ilgauskas
Carlos Arroyo
A.J.  Price
James Anderson
Hassan Whiteside
Luke Harangody
Solomon Alabi

Ideally, I'm looking to trade a couple of these players for one of yours, or one of these players for a draft pick. Some could even be had for a 2nd rounder.

A trade to announce:

Lucky17 trades Martell Webster
Utah Flash trades 2011 1st rounder

Hesitant to deal Webster, who should have a better year this year in Minnesota, but I need to shorten my roster up, and a 1st rounder that projects in the late teens seems like a fair return.

Looking to make more deals. See my post above for the list of available players.

I'm interested in moving two out of three of the following guys:  Travis Outlaw, Randy Foye, Ramon Sessions

I'm looking for an upgrade in talent, most likely a veteran guy.

Another trade to announce:

Gainesville Celtics trade Eric Bledsoe, James Singleton, Larry Hughes, and a 2011 1st rounder*
Lucky17 trades Dorrell Wright and James Anderson

Lucky17 also cuts James Singleton.

Another roster shortening move for me. Again, reluctant to deal Wright, who may put up some nice numbers in Golden State this year. The 1st rounder puts another chip in my pocket, though.

*1st round pick will be awarded after blake and GC exchange 1sts, per their earlier trade, if applicable.

Since there's a lot of talk about lotteries / anti-tanking measures in the Points League, I figured it was worth mentioning here.

I've got no problem with a lottery for the 12 non-playoff teams.  I think it's a pretty solid idea, although I think it's more of a "for fun" thing, than a huge deterrent to tanking (because the lottery hasn't really stopped "real" teams from tanking for a better percentage).  Anyway, each of the 12 owners could simply align their fortune to one of the NBA lottery teams, sort of like we do now with the bottom 5.

I don't think a solution tied to games played works quite as well in the H2H league as it does in the Points league, though.  Certain weeks, people will strategically rest players (i.e., to limit turnovers, to sustain leads in FG% / FT%, etc.) and on weeks when a team has lost a lot of guys to injuries, it's a lot harder to get in a set number of games played.

Fair points, Roy.

For both leagues, I am planning quick and decisive action to remove inactive GMs.

A week of inactivity will prompt an email from me, requiring a response within 24 hours. Failure to do so will result in an official warning. A second such infraction will result in removal from the league.

This will require everyone to provide me with an email address. Most of you already have email contact info listed under the 'Managers' page, so it doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

I'd go one step furhter Roy --- i dont' think it works at all in the H2H league for the reason you point out.

One idea that I think maybe Dubs threw out, is to have a consolation playoff bracket to "win" the #1 overall pick. Maybe the winner of the consolation bracket gets the #1 pick, then lottery of the bottom 5 for picks 2-6...

The reason i like it is rewards teams for continuing to improve their team through the end of the season.
