He needed to prove he can produce consistently, night in nigh out, no matter the matchup. So far, he failed to do that. I can't seen a team throwing even a short MLE contract at him, unless he really explodes from now on.

Wonderful! More Leon for us  ;D

I think his defense is going to hold him back a lot.  He's flat out terrible on the defensive end in my opinion.  Maybe some team will overpay him, but I really don't see him getting anything more then 4 mil a year.

What did you think of his game last night?  I thought he was far from terrible on defense.

I think Leon hurt himself with that so-so spell he had awhile back. I thought he could have earned himself a near MLE contract if he performed well this season, like a Maxiell, but based on what he's done this season I would be surprised if he isn't in the Carl Landry ballpark contract wise.

Powe is hurt a lot by the lack of minutes he receives here. He might be best off taking a lower contract elsewhere, play more minutes and get more touches, and then sign a longer term deal.
If Scal and BBD took my minutes I would be really depressed as well.  :-\
True Celtic = Leon Powe

Bring back the show!!!!

Will NBA GMs really judge Leon based on a six game stretch?  Over the course of the rest of the season, he's been good.

I wonder if Posey's contract situation will dissuade people from spending. With a contracting luxury tax the Posey deal highlights the pain that giving a big deal to a role player can cause you.

Not that I trust GMs to take that lesson. Bad MLE contracts seem to happen every year. Diop and Mo Peterson always make me laugh.

Were you watching when Powe was the only one that could hold Dirk down a couple of weeks ago against the Mavs?  His man defense is very good.  He's still slow on rotations sometimes, but saying he's terrible on the defensive end isn't accurate at all.

Hopefully the C's don't overpay for Powe or Big Baby.  Both are decent players.  However, both are undersized and both reap the benefits of playing alongside incredibly talented players night in and night out.  If a team expects them to come onto a mediocre team and really make a difference, I think they'll be disappointed.  However, if a vet, contending teams thinks they'd be a nice 7th-9th man off the bench, I think they'll be happy.  However, the question must be asked, how much is a nice 7th-9th man worth?

Scal has also has had good defensive games against Dirk and Amar'e. Looking at a single game isn't a good way to judge a player. I do think Powe has improved as the season has progressed. I wonder how he will due once KG is back and his minutes are more limited.

if every game the celtics played was nationally televised, then leon would probably be getting a max contract this summer.

but those of us who watch the other 60 games that are not see a nice role player who hustles and makes the most of his limited abilities...and sees a player who is inconsistent.

leon is a bo outlaw (past reference) or chuck hayes (present reference) type of player who i'd give a 4 year, $16 million contact to.  if he doesn't refuses and wants a lot more then i'd shake hands, thank him and wish him well...

If Powe gets a 4yr, 16MM contract with anybody, I'm sure Powe would be quite happy with that kind of money. I don't think the Celtics will offer that kind of money though.

I can't really see many teams wanting to throw big money to a 6'7 PF to  be a 6th or 7th man.

yeah, but scalagarbage got 5 years at $3 million per...leon is worth more than him.  and agents have a way of laying those type of things out.  i think leon is worth the money, and i believe the celtics will give it to leon and part ways with BBD.

Good.  I think both BBD and Powe's limitations will allow us to keep them both at a reasonable price.  Works for me! ;D

I hope Powe gets 3MM per year.  Another million would be icing on the cake!  The way the minutes have been distributed so far this year, I'd have to say Davis is going to be with the Celtics next year, if only one of the two is to remain.  Why would Celtics give Davis more minutes off the bench if they are going to keep Powe?  Doesn't make sense to me. I don't think Rivers trusts Powe's game, at least enough to give him even Davis's minutes. We'll see!

I think either he or Davis will be back but not both.

Then again I never thought Tony Allen would be back so what the hell do I know?

I wasn't saying that Leon's a good defender solely because he contained Dirk, I was using it as an example.  Sticking by my original claim, I think Leon's man defense is quite good - he's quick and long enough to stay in front of his man, and he's good at getting wide to cut off lanes to the basket and take charges.  I think his only real weakness is that he's a step slow on rotations at times.
