Birdman > Patrick O'Bryant

not saying much, but it is all I need to know

it was a swing and miss by management, plain and simple - they cut their losses and they are moving forward, apparently with Moore

Need we say more? I'm pretty sure Hobbs that you would be the first one complaining if we had brought Birdman and he was shown to be out of shape.

I myself wanted Birdman, but just putting a bit of perspective here.

POB was also reportedly out of shape and was quickly winded during his workout.  Andersen was out of shape.  POB was a never has been and never will be.  I would have been fine with Andersen, and I think my off-season comments were consistent about that.

It was also reported that what was reported about POB was late in the practice and that he had just flown to Boston the night before and arrived like at 2am, and he hadn't had a chance to rest or sleep much. Just saying... there are things we as fans don't see as to why some decisions are made. Birdman being out of shape is quite a good reason for not going with him, and you have to admit that if some report had surfaced to that effect, you would've had a problem with it just like many around here would have.

The important thing here is that Ainge managed to "cut" POB, and replaced him with Mikki Moore. Sometimes it's more important to notice not when a bad decision is made, but how a bad decision is handled. Though I'm still not convinced that when POB was signed that it was a bad decision. It was a calculated low risk signing, and how we got rid of him should reflect that. He simply didn't pan out... so you look for alternatives. Nothing lost.

Every player on the Nuggets played poorly last night.  Why no "Carmelo sucks" thread?  Andersen is great at what he does.  And his defense would appear much better in a defensive scheme such as the C's have.  Denver doesn't help on defense at all.  Of course Powe and Baby can overpower Andersen 1 on 1.

So why sign Andersen when you have Powe and Davis?  Andersen can barely dunk the ball.  He has no shot and he's foul prone.  Give me a break.

Look at it this way- Denver is quite happy with Andersen and the Celts have already given away POB for nothing.

Or a potential second rounder.

The Celtics took a pass on Chris Andersen before they gave away POB for nothing.  And they were right on both players.

They were so right about POB that they signed him to a contract.

See, Brick, it's stuff like that that gets you in trouble.  One thing that Andersen can definitely do is dunk the ball.  In fact, 25% of his hoops come off of dunks.

He's not much of a shooter, but still, 26% of his shot attempts are on jumpers.  He's hitting them at a slightly better rate than BBD, which isn't saying much.

As for being foul-prone, he commits foul rates at a significantly lower rate than BBD, Scal and Powe, and at about the same rate as Perk.

Hasn't it occurred to anyone that the reason we picked POB over Anderson might not've been entirely talent-related?  The team was probably reluctant to take a chance on a guy with substance issues after the Vin Baker debacle.  Remember, we don't know what Anderson got his 2-year ban for, but I'll bet Danny does.  Add that he was out of shape at the workout, and that's a huge risk for a championship team to take.

The POB thing to me was more about taking a flyer on a guy with upside. I imagine they felt Andersen could contribute more but why bother with him when you can get a better character hustle guy in Mikki Moore for free..

Struck out with POB but I think Anderson would have been a decent bench player for us. Vets would have kept him in line and he'd be battling Powe and Davis for minutes. Last night was a bad night for all of the Nuggets.

That Denver team acted like a bunch of punks. Not sure how you can talk so much trash when your down 30.
