Not sure if anyone has pointed this out but it just occurred to me that by offloading a point guard Danny may well be in the hunt for another.

I think we're activly hunting for a backup gaurd with tony now gone (see raja bell) but im unclear as to what we have to offer other teams that would perk thier intrest.

The quote on the front page is suggesting that the buyout should be completed near the deadline, and that Marbury's salary is off the table in trade talks.

Wow really? I wouldn't say that at all. I agree with Crownsy that the Knicks drag this dispute out. I don't see Marbury arriving soon.

Come on, Marbury is a logical, sensible guy, he'll see that being bought out is his only option, and his decision will be obvious, this is Stephon Marbury we're talking about here.

Right now, Marbury is willing to give back at least $1 million, and drop his union protest.  Under the luxury tax, that means $2 million total, plus the attorney fees in defending the appeal.  It's likely that after March 1, Marbury will just say that he wants all of his money.

So, the question becomes, do the Knicks hate Starbury so much as to throw away $2 million+ in this economy, especially when Dolan owes a fiduciary duty to his shareholders?  I think not.

yeah, Mar getting bought out before March 1 is an almost certainty at this point.

The question may be more whether Danny is willing to roll the dice on him...
