I think it works for Toronto, because O’Neal wasn’t working, particularly along side both Bosh and Bargnani. There’s no one in that line up to guard the quick small forwards. It also adds another scorer at the 3 spot which I think they lacked. Admittedly Marion isn’t vastly different from Moon; they’re similar players, but Marion does do everything better than Moon.
As for Miami, I think they probably deserve the slightly higher grade for this deal. O’Neal, Haslem, Beasley, Wade, and Chalmers is a very scary line up on both ends of the floor. The biggest winner of all may be Michael Beasley who can now show everyone why he thinks he should have been the # 1 pick with more minutes. And just incase that doesn’t work out, they have Moon who is a solid player. Even if it does work out, Moon is a great backup!
I think Wade will create a lot of shots for O’Neal with his penetration like no one in Toronto could. I predict a resurgence in his numbers, though it’s not like he hasn’t had some monster games of late to show he’s still got it. He just needs someone like Wade to make it easier for him so he can do it every night.
They shed Bank’s contract, and spot on the bench which is a plus too.
I’m really excited to see how this impacts both teams after the break.
A minus for Miami
B for Toronto
