Could someone please tell me who is our 6th man? Will the real 6th man please stand up?

Is it Powe?    A 6'7 center (Really Doc/Ainge?)
Is it House?   A 6'0 PG (Really Doc/Ainge?)
Is it TA?      A 6'3 SF (Really Doc/Ainge?)
Is it BBD?     A 300+lbs PF (love this guy) too slow

This is not bash a reserve day. I love every single one of them. But seriously, we have big issues with our bench. When our backup Center is 2in shorter than Lebron I think that should be a red alert for Ainge. And Doc should ease off his vetern loving self and give minutes to our young guys even to provide some energy. I see Cleveland using their rookie Hickson & he is playing well.

Our vertically challenged team give mismatch opportunities for our opponents to exploit. We have guys that don't have specified position that they can play every night so Doc just shuffles between them. Its hard to envision us beating Cavs let alone Fakers with our current rotation, thank you doc.

Since obviously we don't have a 6th man we need to outsmart (less TO's) & outwork our opponents. we need to bring it every single game. We need Rondo to play smart & attack ferociously. We need Perk to posterize an opponent every game. We need TA to give us highlights. We need House hitting daggers . We need BBD outmuscling everyone knowing that his probably the strongest guy on the court. We need Powe attacking that rim like someone stole his wallet. If we can't beat LA playing the finesse game, we will outwork them in every aspect of our game.

Some more depth would help Mr. Ainge. And also give our young guys a chance to help us win games Mr. Rivers. We need ONE guy that we can relay on, so Doc pick someone.

Our bench is good enough to get by any team other than the lakers and cavs as of right now, if we want to beat those teams something has to happen, and obviously we'll have to if we wanna repeat

Well, at least our bench outscored the Laker´s bench in yesterday´s game 30-22. Not THAT bad, imho.

Funny huh.  A healthy Scal and we probably win last night.

This bench will end our season early in the playoffs if it isn't changed.

Not enough length, as we saw last night when the pillow-soft Gasol was able to operate on the block unmolested. Not enough offense - as the last eight minutes of the contest showed conclusively last night.

Getting close to the point when we need to see some changes made to get ready for the playoffs.

Otherwise, it's gonna be a short spring.

I think our bench was/is good enough to beat LA.  Big Baby had a poor shooting night and didn't knock down shots he has been recently, Pierce and Ray didn't have good shooting nights, Scal was out and KG fouled out.  Those were the reason for the loss, imo, not necessarily the bench.  That being said, it's probably not enough against Cleveland.  We do need PJ Brown and Cassell/Marbury.

  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
I don't think our lack of a pure 6th man is a problem.  I think we run into issues when our 6th man is out there with the 7th, 8th, and 9th men on the roster.  When playing with a mix of starters, our bench is fine.

Matchup issues from the bench.

Need a 6-10 or taller man that can play.

Need a PG with some size (Cassell)

I think Cassell will be the "6th" man come playoff time.

You see the lakers have (Odom, Farmer, Ariza) that can initiate offense. And we have 0 players on our bench that can create offense. I think a true PG would help run the offense better than House.

Hope you're right. I'm afraid he might be washed-up, we'll see.

Cassell's not the answer.  He was a shoot-first bricklayer when he came in last year.  a few games where his shot was falling but not many.  I'd rather see Pruitt get more burn to get his confidence up.  He'll actually distribute the ball and he's got a good shot to keep defenders honest.

we really don't have a 6th man. Our bench is very specialized. we don't really have a guy that can  wear multiple hats.

that's not a huge indictment of the bench...but i would like to see one guy on the bench that has a little flexibility....

Scal probably is the most flexible as we stand now...

Our sixth man is House. He is the only one who comes in and consistently gives the effort. Unfortunately you don't need an under-sized shooting guard in a PG body as your sixth man.

If Cassell is the answer, I sure don't want to know the question. No way he plays better than Eddie did last night. Great energy, great ball denial, great shooting. ALL Cassell can do is score. He would have been lit up on defense, and we would have had even more foul trouble as the bigs tried to rotate to his guy. Cassell needs to stay right where he is and we need to focus on our real problem and that is someone to play in BBD's place. He just isn't big enough to handle the job. Even when KG or Perk would make a good defensive play at the rim, the other big would get the board and put it right back in. He can't rebound against guys like Gasol, or Varaejo, etc.
