I dont think anyone is saying that Perk's foul on Maxiel was not potentially dangerous to the opposition. Nor, do I think that anyone here wants to see this behavior perpetuated but physical basketball is a part of the game. It may not always be right but again, I think it's much worse to catch a player who is driving for a layup and is flying through the air and jumping as high as he can. For heaven's sake, Lebron the almighty recently leveled Rondo with a similar type play. It should be menitioned too that it was hardly even considered a hard foul.
That being said, if it cuts down on Perks ability to play tough, physical bball then it was not smart. Dennis Rodman, like him or not you can't argue his skills, was not always the smartest player but he was very, very effective in what he did.
