Oh please.  I've been on the receiving end of plenty of fouls harder than that. Wallace wasn't hurt by the contact with Bynum, and it certainly wan't Bynum's elbow that did the damage.  Wallace was hurt when he hit the floor.  It looked like a flop to me.

The NBA has become a league of soccer floppers and pansies, and I have no sympathy for them.

You play basketball with a lot of 7'2" 280lb guys do ya? That was a very hard elbow to the ribs.

Oh please, it was a love tap.  The only reason it is being discussed here is because it was a Laker who comitted the foul.

The shot in the head that Scalabrine took from Nowitzki on Sunday was alot harder than that, and it was Scalabrine who got called for the foul.

Karl Malone used to commit 2-3 fouls harder than that in every game he played.

By today's rules, its a flagrant. To me it didn't look like he made a play on the ball and just put his arm and elbow into Wallace's chest while Wallace was in the air. Dirty in my opinion.

Yes the Scalabrine elbow to the jaw was a harder blow, but Scal wasn't moving at the time.  Wallace was running full speed and elevating.

It's not how hard the blow was, or how fast the player is moving - it's the fact that there was NO PLAY ON THE BALL WHILE THE PLAYER IS AIRBORNE.

It's a textbook flagrant.  What's so hard to understand?
God bless and good night!

Thanks for the video. The foul doesn't appear to be malicious.  On the other hand, it was a flagrant, he was not going for the ball. I wonder if the league will take further action. Based on the tape, I would say no. But given how much damage was inflicted, there may be pressure on the league to suspend him.

I don't agree with the textbook, which has been rewritten recently to assuage the pansies.

It's a shame the league isn't run on your whims, other Brick.

If Gerald Wallace thinks it was a dirty play, he has my permission to clothesline Kobe the next time the Bobcats play the Lakers.

But if he does that he'd be suspended. ;D

Not if I were the commissioner.

Because this is the Tampon Basketball Association, I think Bynum will get suspended.  I mean, by their standards, there are a lot less serious stuff that players get suspended for, like KG for taking a step on the court during a confrontation or something.  So when a guy gets damaged that much, I think it's worthy of 1 game suspension.  That's like saying, "slow down their champ, just remember you are a giant so careful about throwing your elbows around".

I've seen a heckuva lot worse.

I don't really have a huge issue with it.  To me, it was a hard foul.

According to today's standards, its a flagrant but I don't see the need for a huge uproar about it.

You didn't answer my question.

Wallace is still in the Hospital. He has a collapsed lung.

Throwing an elbow at someone's thorax in midair without intention of playing the ball was always a flagrant. In what age or league wasn such a foul considered "just a hard foul"? Slamball?

Worse than a broken rib and a collapsed lung. Could you name those?
