hard foul, yes.....flagrant, no

Not a flagrant? where was the play on the ball? i mean cmon now, there was a flagrant called on the bobcats earlier in the game and it wasnt even half as bad..you can tell from the other lakers body language that it was a flagrant..even the lakers announcers said it was a flagrant

forget the fact that it is the lakers and look at it objectively.  he tried to make contact, and the contact was awkward.  i have seen worse not be considered flagrant. it didnt look malicious to me

Yup, If he did this to paul pierce or ray allen we would be screaming for a suspension, I can guarnatee you we wouldnt say "didnt even deserve a flagrant"
CMON PEOPLE

Eh...  a lot of us grew up watching basketball in the 80s or before.  Under today's rules, that is definitely a flagrant, but I think a lot of us don't mind seeing tough physical contact.

If Perkins did this to Kobe Bryant or LeBron james, would he ever play in the NBA again?

Sure he would.  The only time you see a lot of outrage is when a guy goes for another player's head.  Lakers / Cavs fans would moan, but I think most fans would be okay with a similar foul.

I was exaggerating, but nontheless, if Perk did this to a star like LBJ or Kobe, he would be suspended..no question about it

It wasn't even a hard foul.  Bynum just stuck his arm out.  It looked to me as if Wallace hurt himself with a poorly executed flop.

Um, there was no flop on that play Brick...wallace was driving past kobe right to the rim and Bynum jumped right into him put his elbow to Geralds chest and grabbed him keeping him from the basket and then gerald fell to the ground in agonizing pain...where exactly is the flop, and why would you have to flop with a collapsed lung and broken rib, and even furthermore, how do you collapse a lung for a poorly executed flop? please - lets see if he does this to paul pierce or your precious tony allen and see what you'll be saying

It wasn't that bad, it doesn't warrant any further action from the league.
Clearly a flagrant, but a judgment call as to whether there should be suspension. Throwing elbows is usually suspension. Hard to say there was a play on ball when he never extended his arm, but merely rammed elbow into Wallace's ribs.

In Bynum's defense, one could argue he wasn't quick enough to extend arm.

Not that bad? this isnt football..he made no play on the ball and Wallace has a collapsed lung and a broken rib
If that was Paul Pierce you people would be sining a different tune
Collapsed lung and broken rib is irrelevant. Homerism of some is also irrelevant. The question is whether the play by Bynum qualifies of suspension. It depends upon how they interpret the play. If it was a blatant elbow to stop the player, then I could see a very short suspension. If they think he was just to slow to extend arm, then I don't see any suspension.

Is this sarcasm? I'll assume so out of respect for your history in forum.

Funny how the Lakers announcers agree 100% that it was a flagrant, yet we have people who think otherwise here.

I'm surprised there was no retaliation... other than winning the game.

Oh please.  I've been on the receiving end of plenty of fouls harder than that. Wallace wasn't hurt by the contact with Bynum, and it certainly wan't Bynum's elbow that did the damage.  Wallace was hurt when he hit the floor.  It looked like a flop to me.

The NBA has become a league of soccer floppers and pansies, and I have no sympathy for them.

The solution to star-treatment-on-steroids isn't to give everyone that same treatment so much as it is to remove it for the stars.

I'm with the panel on this one.  Flagrant with an unfortunate result.

You play basketball with a lot of 7'2" 280lb guys do ya? That was a very hard elbow to the ribs.

I agree with the flagrant call. And if the league decides to suspend him fine with me that's fine with too. KG got suspended for flailing an arm. And just in case anyone was wondering if there are any delusional laker fans out there I present the latest comment on the ESPN story.

Bynum did not intend to hurt Wallace. Accidents freakin' happen. I'm sure Bynum is by Wallace's side right now, making sure he's OK. He's not a brainless, heartless gnome like Kendrick Perkins is.

Ouch I hope Perk doesn't get his news from ESPN
