It's just you.
That's harsh.
With so many people on this blog, there must be at least 1-2 others that feel the same way...
I apologize for being harsh, but c'mon, the kid has done nothing but throw down a few dunks in garbage time.
Hm. More than TA has done, with less stupidity, even.
Um, no. Tony actually played well in a few MEANINGFUL games. Walker hasn't.
2006-2007 was meaningful?
Tony played well a few games THIS season. Hello!
Once. Against a Detroit team that just traded for Iverson. Other than that, nothing else is really even note worthy.
And Bill Walker has played well a few games this season, just in limited minutes.
Meaningful games? Nope. But neither were any of the games TA played in. Only the post season really matters, everyone knows that. And what was TA doing while we made our title run? Oh, right. Waving a freaking towel on a bench.
Is this a joke? You don't like TA as a player that's fine. But don't sit here and try to play Tony down to make it look like Bill Walker has actually done a single thing of real merit this year. He hasn't...period. Say what you want about Tony but even in mentioning the small handful of games where Tony has peformed well he's still light years ahead of Bill Walker who to be honest, right now couldn't even spell the word defense let alone play any.
Anyone can play team defense, first of all and really though... WHAT has Tony Allen done? And if he really has done anything, what makes it so much more significant than what Walker has done? The fact of the matter is that Walker has played pretty well in the time he is given, and it's not his fault Doc Rivers never see's a player's real talent unless it's shoved right into his face because of injuries.
Have a look at Al Jefferson, granted he was a high school rookie coming into the league, but he still shouldn't have been playing behind Mark freakin' Blount and Raef LaFrentz. Not like the could rebound or play defense better than Al.
Then Delonte didn't play at all his rookie year, now he was injured a lot from what I remember but when we traded Payton to Atlanta, Delonte stepped in, played fantastic, then returned to the bench.
Next example; Ryan Gomes, who didn't play until half the season was over just because he was a rookie.
Oh, and we also have everyone's current binky... Rajon Rondo, who if I remember correctly, was on the bench behind Sebastian Telfair. The same Sebastian Telfair that essentially was exiled from Boston by the ownership for being a complete idiot. God knows how he is still in the league.
The point is just because Doc Rivers doesn't give Bill Walker a chance, doesn't mean he isn't worthy, doesn't even have to mean he has better players a head of him in the depth chart (Which obviously Ray and Pierce are better, but I really, really don't know if you can say that about Tony.)
And for the record, and you can even go back in look, during the summer I was a huge advocate for bring TA back, I really thought that dunk against the Lakers in game six would really spark something in his head, but he isn't the same player he was a couple years ago, and even when TA was TA, he was NEVER good at coming off the bench, and it's not like we can start him over Ray.
So, I don't have a thing against Tony, but right now I think Bill is a better player, and a better fit and to discredit the little Bill has done already just because Doc doesn't want to give him Tony's minutes is ridiculous.
